Has anyone tried the Bluefusion BFCL2K Bluetooth integration
My Bonneville GXP should be delivered next week. I've been searching for Bluetooth phone integration and read about several products (Co-star, New OnStar module with Bluetooth, etc.) However, I just read about the Bluefusion BFCL2K Bluetooth integration module. Has anyone tried this on their 2003-up Bonneville? If it works, this product sounds like a great solution, because it allows OnStar and the steering wheel functions to remain operational. Has anyone tried this product and know if it works as advertised? Thanks.

Re: Has anyone tried the Bluefusion BFCL2K Bluetooth integra
Never tried it but based on a very brief look I suspect it could be made to work WITH MODIFICATION. The connectors are wrong for the 2000+ Bonneville. Having said this, I've successfully integrated other GM Class 2 systems into my Bonneville from both a Cadillac Escalade with the Luxury audio system and a regular non-Lux system. Class 2 commands for the audio systems (at least from my experience) seem to be relatively common between platforms within similar model year ranges. I support this by the fact that my Escalade system works correctly with both the Bonneville XM module and 12 Disc Changer. Based on this, I suspect integrating it into your car is possible but it will not be plug-n-play.
As for a upgrading to a new OnStar module that supports Bluetooth, I wouldn't even waste time trying. OnStar is just too difficult to move from one vehicle to another based on parameters that have to be set. You will have ZERO success in having OnStar perform the required remote activation/adjustments. I just had my OnStar system upgraded which takes it from 2G CDMA to 3G. One would have thought that since the module clearly supports Bluetooth (based on markings on the module and use of the same module in other vehicles that do have Bluteooth) that they would have permitted this. OnStar told me no, this is not available for the Bonneville.
Co-Star is one I've read a little about but can't really comment on since I don't know enough about it.

Thanks for your reply ddalder. I thought about Co-Star, but it completely disables OnStar, and I'm not sure if I really want that. What modifications do you think would be needed to the Bluefusion harness for it to work? In the product info I've read, there is another harness needed for the XM connection. Is that what you believe is missing? If I bought the harness and sent it to you, how much would you want in order to modify it for me? If we could get this to work, I think it would be of benefit to the whole Bonneville community.

Have a look at the photos of the wiring harness here...
http://www.scosche.com/car-audio/bluefu ... es-2000-up
The picture with the gray connector on the right and the black connector on the left with the two blue tabs pluga in between the vehicle wiring harness and the back of the radio. The other harness is for GM radios made by a different manufacturer. I suspect it would be possible to integrate that style as well but you would be no further ahead with that one.
Problem is... this is the connector used on the 2000+ Bonneville.

As far as doing the modification, this would be very difficult for space reasons. I'd have to have a vehicle to work on and unfortunately mine isn't a good option because it's already been heavily modified, including the dash assembly.

Thanks again for your reply, ddalder. From your picture, it looks like this extension harness won't work either: http://www.scosche.com/car-audio/bluefu ... on-harness
Do you have any other suggestions?

It may be possible to intercept the necessary signals elsewhere but I'd need to do some research and it would involve more technical expertise to install. It would be a little while before I could even look at it with my schedule right now.

Re: Has anyone tried the Bluefusion BFCL2K Bluetooth integra
There is a large connector (C200 - White in colour) below the steering column where it may be possible to build a special harness to install this product inline at that point. The module could then be located forward of the shifter in the center console. The big factor is whether or not this module requires the Right Front audio signal. In the SE and SLE (non-amplified systems) the audio out for the RF speaker passes through the instrument panel harness to a large connector near the passenger air bag. In the SSEi and GXP all the audio signals pass through the connector under the steering column and travel to the rear compartment where the amplifier is located. I don't think it is dependent on the RF audio because the connector you see is where items such as OnStar and XM radio connect. I'd need to see a harness up close to know for sure what's involved.

The Bluefusion is discontinued and the literature says that the module is not compatible with the Bonneville. You would be better off getting an aftermarker HU with Bluetooth built in and using the proper adaptor will allow you to keep OnStar.

Re: Has anyone tried the Bluefusion BFCL2K Bluetooth integra
The reason it's not compatible with the Bonneville is because of the connectors. There are ways around this however. Based on my past experience with the Bonneville and other vehicles that the module is stated as being compatible with, I am quite confident that I'd be able to get this working with little difficulty. If the module is discontinued then that's a whole other story.bobgto65 wrote:The Bluefusion is discontinued and the literature says that the module is not compatible with the Bonneville. Do you plan on paying for OnStar? If not, then it's totally disabled anyways. You don't get any of the features, even the accident notification, unless you pay for it.Juggernaught wrote:Thanks for your reply ddalder. Re: Has anyone tried the Bluefusion BFCL2K Bluetooth integra
I ordered a new BlueFusion kit from a seller on Ebay that was letting it go cheap. There is also an extension harness offered which may work with the Bonneville (it plugs into the XM harness and works thru the XM radio interface), I will have to see once I receive the kit. I figured it was worth a try to get this kit working since I was able to pick it up cheap. If it works, then it will be great to have OnStar, XM and Bluetooth all working together. Now, if I can only figure out why my XM receiver is not getting a signal...
The reason I would like to keep OnStar active is for the emergency and the turn-by-turn navigation services. I seldom use nav, but it would be useful to have the OnStar voice nav available when needed. I appreciate everyone's input, and will let you all know how this kit works (or doesn't work) out.
