Yeah, a couple years ago, I would have never understood this.

I think there's a write up for sanding fluted lenses on HIDplanet somewhere. I'll snoop around.

When I looked into it it would have cost about $80 for a proper final polishing compound (so it's clear and not hazy) and tools needed to get everything done. You can sand it down, or use a diamond rotary bit or one of those dremel bits. Sanding takes a long time, the grinding bit will go very fast and you have to be careful.

Edit:
Doesn't the cutlass have 4x6 housings? They make 4x6 projector housings.

Matt, I haven't looked much into the options for headlights on the Cutlass, but you're probably right in them being that size. If that's the case, then that project would be easy.

I haven't spent any time into looking at polishing the glass, since me getting to that point is still going to be a long way off. It's something I would love to do on my car, so as it stands, I'm going to have a couple years to learn and gather materials.

Depending on how cheap you can get the lamps, $80 dollars isn't so bad. Especially if they do come out truly clear. Not sure what other way there is to do a retro successfully except drilling a hole in the lens. Hahaha, but that would be extremely tough to make work properly.

I cut a piece of fluorescent lighting plastic lens, like the ones you put into ceiling fixtures, into the shape of the factory orange reflector and put it inside the light.

Also, here are two more pictures for your viewing pleasure. This is why I love Galaxy Silver when it's clean and the sun hits it just right.

Updating this with my little to do list for the car which I hope to accomplish while the weather is still friendly.

- New strut mounts, mine are toast. Both clunk all the time.
- New passenger side lateral link out back.
- Figure out why my head unit randomly needs to be set up again, sounds like a power or harness issue.
- Figure out what in the hell is up with my voltage gauge, it always drops to zero at the same time as the rear air pump pumps the shocks up. See thread: http://www.pontiacbonnevilleclub.com/fo ... 46400.html
- Attempt getting into the fuel tank once more to get my sender in. Very difficult because of the warped trunk floor.
- Trans fluid change.

Then the less needed list is as follows:

- When I fixed my heated seat, I didn't get the leather on the seat bottom back on perfectly. Gotta slide it over a bit.
- Thinking about tinting the upper door reflectors..
- I have this Krylon plastic spray paint in a very dark black satin color which I want do spray the center console with.
- My floor mats need a wash desperately.
- Passenger side time alignment on the head unit needs a little more work.
- Paint is flaking off of my front bumper, so I just need to locate my silver sharpie somewhere.. Hahaha
- Metal coolant elbows..
- Reseal the driver side retrofit.
- Paint my shifter button black to match the 2004+ buttons on the center console.

Not much to do otherwise, and the car is still serving me quite well. Just passed 108,000 miles yesterday.
