Retrofit and quad beam

Good afternoon all,

Just a quick question. I'm considering jumping on the retrofit wagon but have a question. I've seen many comments stating the 2000+ have quad beams except the GXP due to the HIR bulbs.

The retrofits are bi-xenon so is there a way to still connect my HIR for a quad beam when the brights are engaged??

I hope I explained what I'm asking properly...

Just to let you know, I find that I don't even need my high beams on the darkest of roads.

The only reason I kept my factory high beams is for the flash to pass feature during the day, and to blind people using HIDs improperly.

Not to mention the drastic kelvin difference.

I have HIR's in the highs on my 'Burb and the 4,500k HID's in my lows. The HID's are just as powerful/bright and more luminous than my highs WITH the HIR bulbs. It renders my highs almost useless. My housings are also completely clear, not smoked like Bonne GXP's too.

Well that's because a low beam halogen bucket becomes a high beam when you put an HID in it… Basically..

But let's not open that can of worms.

Are you running the factory lights with the HIDs on the suburban or did you find some nice aftermarket ones with projectors? I want to find a set but don't want ugly garbage

No, still running stockers. I've been looking now for awhile for a projector style but, yea, most are, umm, well, a little to 'flashy'.

I want HIDs bad but flat put refuse to blind everyone around me, I have been looking at projectors but they mostly just look goofy.

It's that they look goofy, but also that they are all now coming with LED strips/Halo's/Angel Eye's and any other crap you can stuff in that section...

Projectors can be had for as cheap as 50 bucks.

Is the Tahoe a roomy light?

Yes, tons of room. I'm sensing a business here Carl... I'd rather support You/Us instead of them...

Here is a pic when I replaced them right after I bought it because the stockers were so bad... The low beam is on the bottom in this pic;

The only problem I foresee here is the fluted lenses. Do they make clear aftermarket replacements? A projector firing through the fluted lenses will not be pretty. I think I remember Will showing me some clear versions, since he wants a pair of these too, for his truck.

It's all good. I actually had a 99 3/4 Suburban for a bit. I HATED the light output and changed the yellowed lenses to a black-backed clear lens. Just doing that made a world of difference. I could see with stock bulbs!! I then switched to HID's and pissed the world off... I wish I would have had known someone who retrofit back then, I loved that truck.

It was black and chrome so I did black-backed corner markers, tinted tails, black led turns up front and the black-backed clear headlights. Looked sick with the carbon fiber bowtie in the middle

Yes this is a dusty old thread, but am I reading correctly here? The GXP has no high beams due to HIR bulbs...or doesn't use a quad bulb set-up, so no second bulb for high beam? Then what does it use the quad lens housing for? Sorry if this is coming off stupid.
