Polished up the other car today.

I was off today and I couldn't wait to try out the polisher I got last week.
I used HD Speed polish and an orange pad. This car hasn't been washed since last winter and the last owner lived near a steel plant so the paint was in pretty bad shape. I think it came out pretty good.

I know its the "winter beater" but that rust looks fixable.

Yeah, I might get it done next year. I painted over it to slow it down from getting worse. That is the only rust on the whole car though, other than the corners of the hood.

I totally forgot that the door handles were on the window sills on those models, and was about to ask if you shaved the door handles hahaha. I've always liked that vintage grand prix, it's just too bad the X motor wasn't easier to maintain/work on.

Yours looks like it's getting the love that it needs though

Great work on a great looking car! I would try and stall that rust. I had my first car a black Bonneville SLE '99 and as typical the rust started on the rear wheel well area. I grabbed black Rustoleam spray paint and after cleaning the wheel wells blasted it with about 4-5 coats. That slowed the rust down significantly! Really does help a lot even if it only gives you a couple more years.

I miss my SLE, my younger brother drives it for college now, 180k and still running flawlessly.

I grabbed one from a Cutlass at the junkyard as a backup, I might get another if I see one.

The speed is amazing. I might get something more aggressive for it come spring. In some areas up close the paint flat out sucks. It looks really good in the sunlight though. This almost didn't happen at all but I was junkyarding with Matt and he needed to go to Harbor Freight and the polisher was on the clearance table for $20.

I love it, those old interiors are cozy. I didn't know they have the 92-99 and Firebird steering wheel too.
