lowering my 01?

Post by fromtheashes »

Hey everyone I know there was an old thread about lowering springs. But just curious how low you all think I can drop my 01 ssei before I start rubbing or anything along those lines.

Yeah I went to customsprings.com and got a quote for about 450 for front and back. Just looking at my wheel well and it doesnt look like there is much room. So I have to measure. But knowing what other people of done helps a lot.

I remember seeing someone just cut down their coil springs with and angle grinder. Not the same type car but the idea is the same. He took and inch off and went from there until he got what he wanted. I am not familiar with the SSEi setup but for the most part I would assume it would work the same unless there is something special to make this a no no.

If you go this route I would take 2 off to give myself room for error.

The bonnevilles springs are all pigtailed so they can't be cut to lower the car.

The quote I got from customsprings.com was 450 total front and rear, at -1.5 with a 25% increase in stiffness.

Does anyone know why they need my stock oem spring part number????

So they can calibrate their height and rate off of that. It would save you a lot of headache to just ask for the same springs as one of us who has already gone back and forth a few times.

Several members have ordered custom springs from them. Most of the sets have been duplicates of the set I had made last year.

I got the last known set of oem acdelco gxp struts. I haven't gotten around to nodding grand prix struts to fit bonnevilles but they never made agxs for the Bonneville.
