93 Bonneville AC help
Since I bought my 93 almost 2 years ago it never blew cold so I figured it just needed a recharge. I charged it today since its 95 degrees out and to 40 PSI from the gauge and the AC Compressor never engaged. So I drove it and came back and put the gauge on and it was down to 30 PSI. Guess there is a leak somewhere but why didnt the compressor engage? Sounds like it would cost to much to fix? Let me know!

Re: 93 Bonneville AC help
You have a circuit.. There is the low pressure switch and the high pressure switch, you need to make sure both are good or the system will never cycle..
Did you jumper the low side pins in the connector to see if the compressor would cycle?

I ran a jumper in the low pressure switch harness and ran the AC and it never engaged. What does that mean? Where is the High Pressure switch?Jrs3800 wrote:You have a circuit.. Need to use a voltmeter to see if you have +12v at the green wire on the high pressure switch when the system is set to A/C. If not, it's something upstream (fuse, wire connector, climate control unit, hvac programmer). If you have +12v at the blue wire on the low pressure switch (next to the accumulator/dryer) then it's something in the compressor relay or the wiring/connector, or maybe the clutch.

I checked the low pressure switch and it didnt give me a reading. I didnt check the high pressure switch though since its hard to get too.MattStrike wrote:Need to use a voltmeter to see if you have +12v at the green wire on the high pressure switch when the system is set to A/C. Re: 93 Bonneville AC help
I was able to get to the high pressure switch (on the back of the compressor with the red clip, the black clip switch on the hose down there is for the fan) by raising the car a few inches and reaching up from the bottom. It's tricky to get off, there is a tab you squeeze on the back end of the clip that releases it. Check both wires on the switches for the +12v signal in case your wire colors are different than my CSM shows (happens sometimes).
