supercharged bonneville...gold edition?

Post by Calplaya »

So prior to today I have always felt like I was a pretty good authority on 92~99 bonnevilles. But I recently just purchased one sight unseen from a buddies of mine friend. I was told it was a 95 ssei with a blown Trans. Ok. For the $150 dollar agreed on price I thought I couldn't go wrong. At the very least I'd get a parts car for my 97 ssei. So I go to get the trailer from the farm and while im gone, he dropped it off at my parents place in the town I bought it. Cool. Im dying to see what a $150 dollar parts car looks like the whole time im gone. Well, I pull up in front of it and I see what looks to me to be a fancy SE Bonneville, and I feel taken. SE bumpers, side cladding and instrumentation inside, besides the adjustable suspension and shifting buttons in the center console. But the outside has in raised gold metal letters "Bonneville" and above that it says supercharged and below it it says gold edition. It is black and has the gold center laces, ran interior, and a fancy design around the trunk key cylinder. Naturally I just think it's an SE imposter. So I pop the hood and lol and behold! It is supercharged!!! Do any of you know anything about this car? Im thinking im gonna restore it instead of using it as a parts car, but I can't seem to find any information on this car at all. Help!

Souns like a Supercharged SE, uncommon but not terribly rare, and I believe the gold edition was a dealer installed accessory package. Certainly not factory.

Definitely sounds like a SLE/SC, with the dealer add-on "Gold" Package.

even as a dealer package still sounds cool enough to restore.

Sounds like you have a Loaded SLE/SC with the CCR. if its a True Gold Edition was a factory thing. The Trim Moulding around the cladding instead of Silver was gold, and in that Vintage (92-95) all the Badges were Gold.

the Gold Package was available in 95-97 SE/SLE's

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. It does also have gold inlays in the body cladding, so it sounds like it's what you guys think it is haha. I'll try and post some pics of it tonight if I have time. As far as the body goes, the rear door jams are gonna have to be cut and replaced and part of the rear quarter by the gas tank, unfortunately the dustbin eating it's way thru there (very common). So, im thinking not a whole lot of these are left more then likely, so I think I will just restore it.

I saw a 1995 Buick LeSabre Limited that was similar a long time back at a junkyard. I was in a major hurry, so I didn't get a very good look, but it was the same green as mine, but the emblems and grill were gold (instead of silver/chrome). Don't know if that was a dealer special, something someone did, or possibly a special edition, but I did think it was kind of cool. Wish I could have gotten a better look at it.

The "Gold Editions" I've always seen were basically just a sticker package with the inlays that go around grooves in the body cladding, not the top of it, and from my understanding it was a dealer installed package. Never really seen what you're referring to, Pat...

A true gold edition will have Gold trim around the top of the Body Cladding and the bumpers, not like the silver that every other 92-93 and later Black in the 94-95 cars.

With the 96-97 Cars, there were metal inlays that went in the body cladding on the Doors and on the rear bumpers of the 95.

They were not dealer installed. There was alot of info on the old forum
