Air Leveling pump

Post by Gremlinamc1975 »

Iv Got a 2001 SSei and noticed that i was having a harsh ride, so first thing i thought was the air pump was out, but i go to the back and press the air button she kicks on, so i figure, disconnect a hard air line and feel for movement, and feel no air movement, so i drop the air pump and the soft lines are a bit dry rotted but they are blowing the pressure out. isn't the hard lines suppose be getting the pressure, any help be appreciated, cause i'm a bit confused, are they used for other things? if they are used for other things then, its probably my air shocks, cause the hard lines look great.

Any suggestions? and thanks in advance

The electronic level control system doesn't do anything for the ride quality as far as firm or soft, all it does is keep the rear end level when loaded down. If the shocks look nasty and the car has a pile of miles on it, they are probably due for replacement though. The only time you would feel air movement in the lines going to and from the shocks is when the pump is kicking on to pump them up to raise the rear end and level it.

well the car only has 48k on it, but i still think the air shocks look bad, just the wife wants me to make sure its not something else, so that helps answer one question, but how about the pump pumping air to the soft rubber lines, is there a valve that directs air to 2 different locations?

There is only 1 soft air line, and its just a vent. The hard lines are where the air goes from the pump to each shock and the trunk inflator. There is no valve, just a "T" fitting.

ok the 2 vent tubes i thought was to something else, was just a T fitting one goes the the plastic vent in the frame, the other went to the electric motor, as you can see the little fitting almost center of the picture. Image
i have replaced all the tubing cause it was just falling apart and made it a quieter tune, i also replaced the air shocks, much easier then i expected, could have done way faster if i new where all my tools were and could have been done well under an hour, but i also had access to air tools and a lift. so :beerchug: to not boucing around anymore.

Ok so what's up with this club forum? I've sent emails and been coming here looking for recent posts, comments, activity and it all looks to be 10 yrs old. Is it in a comma or what ? I have a Y2K SEEi I have been working now for about 5 yrs trying to get all of the non working things, the things that have died since I got the car ( back up and running, it was a Houston, we have a DED stick when I got it ). The engine in it now is at the least the 3rd, and running pristinely. Done a bunch of work inside it, working on collecting parts for a cam swapp next spring or hopefully sooner. Want to replace the exhaust with mid length headers ( stainless ) upgrade the rest of the exh. install an IC system, and worst of all get that sunroof working. I found by accident, the owner that sold it to the guy I got it from in the neighbor state, who had the previous engine which I wanted to get but he let it go before I could pay for it but I did get the SC which is in better shape then the one running on it now. So I'm in the rebuild, modify mode with that now. Anyway on to the big reasons I'm here. The SUNROOF. My glass is fine, I have the headliner out for re clothing and padding, my motor works but I have broken pieces in the actuator assembly. My cables appear to be Ok, so I came here to ask what's up with the fellow supposedly running the Bonneville parts outfit in Browersville, Mn. He isn't returning my call, answering my email. I have a second Bonnie, a Y2.1K I recently acquired for either fixing it up and getting it running again or parting it out for whatever I can use in my SSEi, I've taken some pieces and will be putting the pieces I took out of my SSEi in the car, not necessarily back in place unless I get the car running nicely, it has had work done over the yrs, has been sitting since 2017, tires are nice, Interior is really nice for age but has no sunroof, will need sun visors, floor mats, maybe a few other items, as I said, I will be swapping some pieces to clean up my SSEi, car is white and needs a front bumper cover, HL buckets, radiator is in my SEEi at the moment as mine cracked a few days before I went to take possession of this car, radiator is going back in as soon as I get my new all aluminum 3 row installed next month and I will be working on getting this car back up running hopefully, make for sure, if I can't save the engine in it, I have a replacement in another car that runs perfectly. Did all the top end gskt work on it a few yrs ago and have only drove it a short time, sits as a backup for me. That car is a GP. with sunroof that works. Has new front struts assmly's needs everything else. But it does drive. If I pull the engine from it, I will likely just part it out the rest of the way and set enough pieces back with it to fix it up or scrap minus engine parts, etc... so with that, I will leave this and see if someone updates me on what's going on here. I saw where the Bonneville guys were updating sites and all but as I said, I haven't seen or gotten any responses from the limited communications I have made to let me know if there is still life here or what? :dontknow: :helpsmilie:

The forum started to die when everyone started moving to the Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/15221603863 There are only a few new posts a day if we're lucky. Forums just aren't what they used to be.

I haven't got back to your email that you sent yesterday because I was vacation this weekend and I normally only respond to business stuff M-F 8-4:30 (business hours listed online). If you called and didn't leave a message I don't call back because I assume its spam.
