Re: boxes of happy parts on their way...
He'll plug halfway between the holes, so the PCV air gets sucked through a "catch can" and all the oil stays out of the S/C and IC.
Bye Bye:

Heres how the lines for the air/oil separator look. Still need to figure out a good way to plug the hole. Looks like ill just have to tap it for a 3/4" set screw.

You can send the royalties via PayPal.
Got the trans in last night. Just a few thhings to button up with that. Few things left to sort out on. The engine this week; rear main seal and cover, plug for the pcv port, blockoff plates for the egr ports, throttle body adapter gaskets and final accessory assembly.
I wanted to get the subframe bushings out and figure out a polyurethane alternative but never got around to it. I plan to do some suspension upgrades this spring if all has gone well with the engine, so this will be part of that.
Really hoping for a first start sometime next weekend.

Re: boxes of happy parts on their way...
It's been fun reading along with you on this one... I have learned many things here... the two main points, for me, are... I'm not going there and if I do, I will have someone else build it. lol
Make sure you get us something with audio when you get her fired up, love to hear what she sounds like. I'd also be curious to know, when all is said and done, how much you had to spend to get there. I know the hours have been extensive and figure the cash has been as well. If you don't want to discuss the cash I understand.
Thanks for your time on the write-up.

Yeah, the money thing is stupid. I mean, seriously, DO NOT BUILD AN ENGINE FOR A BONNEVILLE!! lol. Ive purposely not kept track.
The writeup is therapy for me. Its nice to share this with people who give a crap, since nobody around here does.
Ill definately have video of the first startup. For better or worse. lol.

Same. It's so peaceful. Put on some chill music. Grab a wrench. Tell people (read: My mother) that they can't bother you cause if you do something wrong you will most surely die when your car falls apart at highway speeds.

LOL. My family just comes to inform me of meals, make sure I'm not dead, etc. It helps that the shop isn't attached to the house...

Re: boxes of happy parts on their way...
I turned a plug for the pcv hole and pressed it in. Put a couple peens in it as well. Its not going anywhere. Also had to shorten some bolts to fit the odd height with my setup.
Ive got a bit of a shopping list and a few to-do items before this weekend, but all signs point to saturday being the day the engine goes int the car. Im a little nervous to be honest. I fully expect little issues but I hope its nothing big.

Re: boxes of happy parts on their way...
Generally I would probably keep it, it does help mileage and reduces emmisions. But with an intercooler and all, I'd rather keep it all as clean as possible. That's why I've also got the air/oil separator.deano55 wrote:I second the thanks for the posting of this build! Why do you block off the egr? I thought it is benificial
