Which LIM Set?
Hey guys, I'm going ahead with the LIM fix and I remember reading on a thread somewhere not to use certain gaskets and I can't remember if it was GM or Felpro? I saw in the "Change LIM" thread to use a set from APN and they have GM, Felpro and Victor....which one??
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Which LIM Set?
I've used both the GM and Felpro metal framed gaskets without issues. I believe a couple have said that they had some problem with the Felpro.

Re: Which LIM Set?
As long as you use the aluminum framed gaskets from GM or FelPro you will be fine. The cost a little more but are well worth it.

Re: Which LIM Set?
Will that just be the upper? Should I do both and is there alot more work involved to do the lower too?

Re: Which LIM Set?
I would go ahead and do both if money allows, save time, money and trouble and knock both the upper and lower out.
May be different on a series I 3800 as far as having to do the UIM and LIM together.

Re: Which LIM Set?
It is Series II, so the plastic ones would be sufficient or should I use ZZP aluminum?

Re: Which LIM Set?
Sorry, I seen 95 under your car info under your name and thought it was a SI. Honestly I would go to rock auto and buy the aluminum LIM gasket, elbows, fuel injector o rings, thermos gasket, throttle body gasket....etc. save you some money.flatlander745 wrote:It is Series II, so the plastic ones would be sufficient or should I use ZZP aluminum?

Re: Which LIM Set?
Yea, I am getting the Felpro MS98014T set that includes, upper injector o-rings (instead of lower not sure why?), the two cooling passage o-rings and thermostat gasket.

Re: Which LIM Set?
Some people have had issues with the Fel-pro gaskets leaking. I would get the GM gasket set.

Re: Which LIM Set?
Sounds like your set.
While your supercharger is off I would drain it and put new SC oil in, thoroughly clean your throttle body, intake manifold for carbon and varnish.

Re: Which LIM Set?
Sounds good but I can't find the elbows on Rocks site. Is one bottle of S/C oil enough?

Re: Which LIM Set?
The elbows won't be there as they do not apply to your application.
I believe that 2 bottles are needed. Better safe than sorry.
EDIT: I saw where this was posted and saw your sig after I replied. Let me find you a link

Re: Which LIM Set?
I just re did mine went with the felpro and I also picked up the cooling elbows under 5 dollars at Auto Zone, when removing the LIM the old one broke. thankful I did get them. While I was at it I replaced the cooling hoses and the thermostat the felpro kit included everything even the o rings for the injectors. my car is running like a champ.. Also check all your rubber t's for damage and clean it all I did and I'm loving it. Harofreak(Andrew) Was a great help with hard to get parts. Good luck and take your time with it. Supercharger oil is 2 bottles.

Re: Which LIM Set?
Yea, I already opted for AC and ordered all the other misc gaskets individually, the Felpro S/C gasket comes with the two yellow o-rings.

Re: Which LIM Set?
Yes, the SC-to-LIM includes the 2 yellow coolant o-rings. Be careful on the coolant temp under the thermostat housing, mine was covered by a aluminum foil sheath and I accidentally ended up breaking it. The write up under the tech article is a awesome reference guide with some good tips, like use kerosene to clean parts with, use dielectric grease as a assembly lube. I cleaned my injectors with a soft bristle brush in kerosene, they were covered in grime. And put the dielectric grease on the coolant elbows for a easier install..... Good stuff.
