question on a 1997 buick lesabre

what are some of the problem to found out why my car will not start the battery is good it wonts to turn over but wount but when i get a jump from a friend the car will star when he puts jumper cables on pos battery the neg on the fram of the car....

Clean the battery connector contacts and grounds? Try a new battery? Get the starting & charging system tested?

Tighten the battery cables down, especially the positive terminal. Is the security light on the dash on?
