Oh No!!! mo wah wah

Post by Lobos02Poncho »

Those of you who have followed, know that I have recently completed ; removing door panels and resealing them all, pulled interior and driver seat inorder to reconnect roof drain driver side, removed corroded ped connector and resolderd little tan wires to get doors and windows working. Having done all this successfully with the Clubs great help I may add.
While awating a new weatherstripping for the Bonne, I had not yet put the back seat in.
Well now to the point: I know have found water in passenger right rear well. I immediately pulled up carpet ,saw water from coming same point as was on driver side, went to the frontpassenger side checked out rubber matting under carpet, checked harness that fits into slot of molded robber matting No Wah wah! Checked small drainage groove that runs the length of the car saw where it was wet and where it started to get wet. Got out the talcum powder, sprinkled the door sill closed the door and soaked the passenger RFdoor. Oh I already pulled the RF passenger door. Cannot tell you why but all of a sudden the door that had not leaked since the day it was resealed has now begun to leak. THE PROBLEM: Seems that where the wires come through the deflector shield, to connect to the door moldule, there are two small flaps, and one larger flap on the interior of the shield. I have water running down the internal flap onto the smaller flap, then dripping down the reflector into the car. I maybe an idiot, but I cannot seem to secure the flaps in such a way as to stop the dripping into the car car.
ANY IDEAS?????? :banghead:

Guess what Peeps!
Problem solved!!!!!!!
After pulling door and reviewing page #4 of "Door Leaks" link, some real studing and thinking, allowed me to see the problem:
1) When reflectors were resealed, my helper pulled the rearview mirror harness through the relector, rather than feeding it up and to the outside of the reflector, then plugging it into the door module.
2) This caused the longer flap to be unable to hang down properly, causing water to build, drip onto wires, drip onto 2 smaller flaps, (located where rest of wires feed through and plug into door module). These 2 smaller flaps also would not properly fold allowing water to drip, pour through into the cabin.

So ifin ya reseal ur reflectors MAKE SURE u feed ur wires through the proper locations. So as to avoid all this xtra work.
My only real question now is why did it take so long for this problem to arise,(about 4 wks.)
But it's fixed.
Tanx 4 ur help!!!!
