Can it be brought to life again? looks like it

Should it be brought to life again? I dunno, seems like it is only going to be crashed again given its track record

Well, Nikki (who now owns the car) was driving it last fall when it died on her, it would randomly stall and not start back up so she parked it and started to drive her old Tempo again. Well, the body rotted apart in her Tempo leaving her with no car again so she asked me if I thought I could fix crash for her (she named it Sammy Dean) I had a good crank sensor laying around and threw that on hoping that might be the issue, not sure yet but hopefully will know this weekend.

She snagged the hood up for $130 with the grill, just needs to be polished up a little bit to remove the nasty swirls on it. Won't be going for show car quality, just want it to not look like absolute crap.

Took it for a little drive up and down my driveway, my yard, and my neighbors driveway.... it stalled and didn't want to start back up as soon as I got into the road and pulled into my neighbors driveway, popped the hood and wiggled the wires going to the ICM and it fired right up. Not sure if the issue lies there or if it was just dumb luck and the car stalled cause it really hasn't been ran for more then 15 minutes in the last six months. Either way, I will get to the bottom of that issue and get her back on the road!

I really don't care what grill is on it, it is better then what was on it, not to mention it isn't my car anymore

How many times has this car been injured... let's see...
Crashed / totaled then rebuilt
Shortly after it was stoned by some jerk off driving like an idiot and made a mess of the fresh paint
I sold it to a friend, Nikki
She hit a deer
Someone hit the back of it at the bar one night when it was cold and cracked the back bumper.

I want to say it probably has around 250,000 miles on it now
Electrical gremlin knocked it out for almost the whole summer a few years ago cause I wanted to find it myself, turned out to be a shorted wire behind the engine leading to the oil pressure sending unit - the wire also supplies power to the ICM.
Trans started slipping bad around 220,000 miles, then the engine blew up at the same time as the diff pin broke. Engine and transmission from my parts car was swapped in, then last summer that trans died. Pulled the trans and swapped broken parts out of that one with good parts from original that I still had laying around and it was back on the road. Last fall it just died on her and she actually planned on parting it out and scrapping it this spring, but her other car died so now she needs a car and don't have money to buy one so here it is!

Now the back of the car around the fenders and behind the doors is rotting out. Not to mention the core support is pushed in about a half inch or so from hitting the deer so the headlights don't sit quite right. This car has had a rough life for the last 100,000 miles or so since I picked it up, but it just refuses to die for good!

Those H Bodies were sure a tough Breed... Not sure GM ever intended them to last that long... I bet the engineers sit around and go " Yeah we designed those cars back in the day, we knew they'd be tough "

It actually hits the bumper. But as he said, definitely not his problem anymore!

hey crash, i had the same stalling issue on my 1988 sse.

as it got worse i got pissed, a few good people on this forum told me to change the complete wire harness that comes from the icm and goes over the engine..

i grabbed one for $17 from my local u-pull-it ..

and the problem went away and never came back..

i inspected the old wire harness a few times and could not find any spliced, scraped, broken, or pinched wires any where on it.. also no wires seem to have pulled loose from the icm or other clips on the wire harness, so in other works it looked 100% fine but it had a short somewhere inside it..

so i hope you bring crash ( jimmy dean ) back on the road... i also think i have a icm off my series 2 that i could possibly mail to you if you would like to swap yours out and see if that works before you replace the engine sensor wire harness.

just let me no.

I have to agree, as my 95 was a similar setup. with that black grill it looks strikingly similar :bwoohoo:

Definitely appreciate the offer, I actually have a spare ICM here also and that didn't help the stalling issue. She has been driving it for a few days now and said that it is running great, so hopefully the issue is fixed!
