2000 Bonneville Steering Wheel Control Switches

Does anyone know the procedure to remove and replace the steering wheel mounted audio controls on a 2000 SSEi? I have replacement switches in hand but I cannot determine how to remove my old ones. I'm not going to save the old ones, so I don't mind tearing them up, but I don't want to destroy the connecting plug which looks like it locks into the switch. I hope this doesn't involve removing the air bag and all that that entails. Thanks.

Actually they just pry right out, the rubber in the wheel is more flexible thenyou would think

You'll probably need to use a small screwdriver to disconnect the connector once you have them out that far... there really isn't enough wiring to pull them out that far.

Worked great! The wires were a little short on the right-hand side, but I was able to make the connection. A bent-nose plier would definitely have made connecting this side easier.
