UPDATE: Hit a curb...positive camber. Suspension damage?
UPDATE: OK, got the subframe installed, and had to replace the strut and a steering knuckle. I haven't seen it personally yet, but the mechanic says that the measurements are now off much worse than they were before he performed the work. I believe he said the camber is now 5 degrees, and before it was 3.9. They can't seem to find anything else bent other than what has been replaced. He says the only possibility is the entire frame of the car or the strut sleeve that the strut mounts into, whatever that is, is bent. This is getting very frustrating now

Sounds like something got f'ed up before you bought it.... probably is bent somehow especially how people drive in our area with the gigantic chuckholes everywhere..

The camber is 5*, or the caster? You originally had listed that the caster was 3.9. If it's 5 for the caster, from the figures I had, that is right on spec.

Sorry, I meant CASTER, not camber.
The mechanic is now saying that the strut "sleeve" is bent...not sure what he means by that, but hes indicating that its not a big deal.

I assume that the mechanic is referring to what we would call the strut tower. The part that the top of the strut fits into, including the top where the mount attaches to the car. I wouldn't think that it is a big deal, as the caster is right on spec.

Re: Hit a curb...positive camber. Suspension damage?
UPDATE: Everything is great now, but what a TERRIBLE experience it was getting it done. The idiot who was originally working on the car was recommended to me by one of my employees. He was cheap and supposedly fast and knowledgeable, so I went with him based on the personal recommendation.
Long story short, I paid the guy half the labor and part cost ($550!), 3 weeks went by and the guy kept spinning me and telling me that things were worse and going to cost more, and kept avoiding my phone calls. I demanded the car back on several occasions as it wasn't even where it was supposed to be getting the work done.
This loser ended up not repairing ANYTHING, despite leading me on, put 1,000 miles on it, and drove it around smoking in it for 3 weeks. I called the Sheriff's Dept and they found him and the car and charged him with 2 felonies. What an idiot. So the repair itself, new strut, two new control arms, and a new subframe out the door $980. But that doesn't include the $550 the thief robbed me of!
