just get (2) 1/2" long steel spacers, 1/4" id, 3/8" od (place on top part of piston)
(2) 3/4" long steel spacer,...."...." (place on bottom part of piston)

= $3 from Ace hardware, or wherever you chose.

Buy a 2-3 spring and replace it in the place of the 1-2 spring.

= $9 from local GM dealer

=$12 shift kit same thing.

Update on the shift kit: Still working flawlessly. It's still shifting very fast and very smoothly. Still recommended for a one-stop shift kit. Yeah, it's pricey. It's also worth it for masking or helping to prevent PCS issues.

Update: With 16k miles on the kit (installed at 78k miles, just hit 94k miles yesterday), there are zero issues to report. My ATF is still cherry red, and the transmission is shifting just fine. No change in shifts from installation to now. Still fast and smooth.

I guess final update: at 102k miles the PCS finally bit the dust, so it was replaced. A local shop did it for $450 including an alignment. The car puts power to the ground very nicely now.

so is the shift kit sold at zzperformance any good? it looks like the spacers are plastic :eek2:

and is it a good idea to put a shift kit on a car with 200,000 miles on it?

Just did the transgo kit & b&m cooler (LPD). I just used the springs per the kit but did use a half inch spacer in the second gear side. The cooler mounted nicely on the tubes under the hood latch, it runs vertical. Could not get the fitting out of radiator so cut the lines & sanded them fresh then installed two clamps opposite each other on each end took out about two inch section about two inchs down from the top. I changed fluid 20ooo miles ago couldn't be leave how dark it had gottin already. Will change again in 20 then see if the change helped at all. History of car came from Texas had 90ooo whin I got. Last year was shifting strange one day on exspessway then I but trans tune in it been ok after that. Have towed with it when I moved used snowmobile trailer for some of the stuff. Used 3rd when towing wish I would have had trans cooler then. Bonus when working on car found bad clamp on radiator overfill hose. Hose was doubled over on barb, looked like from factory that way. Was losing coolant like half inch ever 6ooo miles about. Thought was going to have to do intake looks like can wait on that for a while but sure it's time is coming.

Shifts fine like it did when driving normal where u can see a changes is when getting on it nice & firm.
