brakleen on silver honey combs

hi,

i bought a pair of winter silver honey comb rims which got brakleen all over the front sides. are the rims damaged beyond repair or will something clean up the "stains".

I don't know if the silver wheels were clear coated or powder coated... Can you get a pic?

Either way, if the stains won't come out, odds are that they might be etched into the clear or powder coat and the only way to bring them back is to polish them, and polishing one of those wheels would require a dremel or some other type of variable speed rotary hand tool. It would also likely take more time then it is worth.

Winter rims will end up looking terrible a week after they are clean anyways from all the snow/dirt/salt on the roads, so I really wouldn't spend a lot of time on them.

I guess worst comes to worst, you could always repaint them. Dupli-Color makes a very nice wheel paint that many of us here have used and been very happy with. I painted a set of the gold crosslace (honey combs) wheels gunmetal to use on our '03 for winter tires and they turned out very nice.

yes, you know what i meant

(honey combs)

i guess i was thinking of the old firebird rims (honey combs)

wheels gunmetal to use on our '03 for winter tires and they turned out very nice.

It really doesn't matter what you call them, I always called them honey combs as well for years before I joined the club then started calling them crosslaces as well, mainly because it is easier to type I guess :lol:
