restored interior (no 56k) - more changes on pg2 9-8-09

Yes, somehow I managed to get the car back in working order. This ordeal started when I wanted to upgrade to the CD changer and XM radio. In order to do this, I had to gut the interior to run wires, and also run wires behind the dash. Since I had the new dash to install, this was the perfect time to go through with it. When things started to go back together I managed to find an 02 SSEi with tan interior in a local junk yard... SCORE! I picked up almost every interior part that needed replacing in my car. Here is a run-down of what this latest restoration consisted of:

OEM 12-disc CD Changer
OEM 2004 XM Satellite radio
OEM 2003 Head unit (for the XM capability, has the BAND button)
Brand new dash assembly
Sunroof track assembly/motor/module/glass (my track busted and only worked in vent mode, and the weather stripping on the glass was wearing out)
Headliner (Yes I know, I replaced my custom recovered one back with an OEM one...the one I did had 1 small flaw that was bugging me)
Sunvisors
A&B pillars (had missing tabs on mine)
SSEi floormats
Door seals (mine were getting old and torn)
Door sills (had missing tabs on mine)
Pass through latch assembly
Trunk carpet

So thats the stuff that was new to me, and then all the other stuff got a good cleaning. I finished up the installation yesterday and gave the car a much needed bath this afternoon. Here are some pics showing everything.

Underhood is untouched. This is what happens when you let polished aluminum go untouched for a couple years. Next, I'll work on getting this back into show-shape.

If there was a way to make the texture smooth as glass, then a body matched antenna might look good... but I'm diggin it as is.
Blown93SSEi wrote:The only downer is that its a tan interior. I prefer charcoal/black.
I thought the same thing when I bought it, but the tan interior has really grown on me. After parting out several of the gray interior 2000+, I can say that I'm not really a fan of the gray. Its not the deep rich black/gray like my 95 was. The 2000+ tan is luxurious.

Headlights are just cleared GXP's. They have black bulb coverings and tinted lens'.

While adding to your ego...(lol), I must admit that after I saw your pictures, I found myself strolling over to autotrader to see if there was any low mileage SSEis/GXPs...

I was this close to actually thinking about selling Stewie to get back into a Bonneville just from your pics...

Luckily, I have good self-restraint...

Looks real good, Andrew.

The GXP lights look dang good! I knew they were tinted a touch on the GXP from factory, but those just looked like you did something more.

I've had a light or two out on the radio since I bought it but now theres a couple more out, and on the steering wheel. I've been considering doing it myself but I might send it to you since you know what you're doing well enough. I'll probablys end ya a PM sometime
