GXP headlights arrived

Post by harofreak00 »

Bought these on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... &viewitem=

Since I didn't need the foglights, the seller agreed to sell just the headlights to me for a little cheaper. I paid $158 shipped for both headlights.

It was hard to spend that much on new headlights, but after getting them, I am very impressed. They look brand new. No chips or foggyness at all.

The reason I got them was, when I had my GXP I noticed that the lights were MUCH brighter than my SSEi. The GXP lights actually use an HIR1 bulb instead of the standard 9005. It uses the same energy and same temp, but produces more light. Also, on the GXP, when you have the brights on, only the high beams are on. On the SSEi, all 4 bulbs are on. This just proves how much better the HIR1 bulbs are.

I haven't installed them yet. I plan on getting some good before and after pics though.

What is special about the HIR1 bulbs that regular SSEi lights cannot be adapted to use?

So could you swap an HIR1 bulb for the standard 9005 without buying the GXP lights?

handle the brights bulb careful
16 March 2009: This bulb has been discontinued by Toshiba, and is not presently being manufactured by anyone, anywhere. We are working to bring this bulb back to market in the long run. For now, we recommend the new Philips Xtreme Power maximum-performance 9006/HB4 bulb.

Is that HIR bulb for the lows or highs?

For the lows, 9005 bulbs and a harness will get you to the same light output as the low-beam HIR bulb.

yeah, why not just do the 9005 upgrade, or cut the wires and add the HR1 plug?

i recently got a job at a auto body warehouse place and get like 40-70% off. i was like sweet i can replace my "non" GXP headlight with a GXP head light. Go figure we don't sell them and nor does our supplier. So due to me being able to get it so cheap I think I am just going to get a pair of SE headlights. Seems I have one of each On the car now.

Supid dealer. Then maybe I can finally make it worth while clearing the corners. .

Cant wait to see the pictures Haro
