hmm, rocker time

You're wasting time, money, and effort. About twice the cost of a cam alone (with the supporting parts). Rockers and cam run about the same price. Doing both is ridiculous, especially when you have to tone down the lift on the cam later to match your rockers.

It's like spreading expired peanut butter on your sandwich when you know you'll just have to scrape it off and buy more before you eat it.

90# springs with my 1.9 rockers easily allow my engine to turn a safe  6400 rpm

Stronger springs on a stock timing chain could accelerate wear of the tensioner and links.

Others have done the 105's with 1.9's without issues so the risk with 1.8's will be less.

Doing the rockers followed by a cam is more costly but your reasoning seems logical.

Have fun.

I just came back from excersizing mine. Bill, my lsd is still working great on dry roads.

thank you Paul,
it might be a little more expensive, but it works does it not?

running both worked out well for Todd, why wouldn't it work out well for me?

Bill i understand what your trying to tell me,
but the build im doing will work, and it'll be sexy.

Todd's car is for sale. Why don't you just save a lot of trouble and buy it?

AND by the time you are ready to buy the heads for that rocker/cam combo to copy Todd's build i doubt they will even be offered by Intense anymore.

i did 1.9 rockers instead of a cam. biggest mistake right there, probably why i got bored of the car in the first place.

As far as a daily driver goes I'm glad that i went with rockers. I know far to many guys who went through multiple motors once they put an aftermarket cam in.

Like I said if the lift on the cam is lowered you can use 1.9s with a cam No problem because the effective lift can be the same as an xp or s1x.
contact Paul at http://www.prjperformance.com great guy and will will do the custom low lift cam at pretty much the same price as zzp or intense.
Also, why would he buy a different car? he has an 03 SSEI the best year IMO. Plus, part of the fun is doing the work yourself.
If the heads are not carried by intense there are other places to get them...
