High,

1997 Bonneville SE

I need to know the termination points of the (3) ground wires.

There is one approx 10g that comes off the neg battery and connects to the fender. At that location (3) approx 16g ground wires route into a plastic flex harness.

Those (3) wires, where are they routed too?

I'd like to re-terminate those connections as I experienced a split second loss of electrical power while driving.

Thanks for any help.

Bob

If you experienced a split-second loss of power while driving, I'd really take those battery terminals off and check those if you haven't already...they are a very good candidate for that, and since two dissimilar metals are touching there...corrode quite often.

And check the ground splice packs under the carpet next to each front door.

Please be more specific: Under the carpet on the 1) floor board 2) firewall or 3) fender kick plate.

Again, much thanks. I will clean the battery terminals and apply dielectric grease to the contact area/threads. Clean the fender wall contacts and check continuity at the two ground bus bars under both carpets.

Are there any locations on the exterior underside of vehicle chassis that may also need to be checked? My vehicle having spent its whole life in the North East has plenty of rust under there.

Check the engine grounds bolted onto the fenders for corrosion. The ones on my Buick were pretty bad. Cleaning them up made a bit of difference in how the car ran.

Learn from the mistakes of others, that way when you mess up you can do so in new and interesting ways.
