Re: New Aurora Maintenance Challenges (UPDATES)
If I remember correctly, there was a TSB on the Auroras for a power steering hose that was too short, and would cause noises. If you could find that TSB, it may help you.

Mine did the sme exact thing about a year ago. Lasted a couple miles, next day it was fine and has been fine since. Wouldnt worry too much about it.

Looking for a good suede cleaner for the inserts on the GXP. Tried Kiwi brand with no luck. Anybody know of anything good?

Re: Brake Question
The caliper on the right side was sticking and caused the right pad to wear prematurely down to the wear indicator. Thanks for all the input.......

Brake Question
98 SE, new brakes and rotors 22000 miles ago. Car stops fine, no pulsation. However, when going down the road, there is a screeching coming from both front wheels that goes away as soon as you hit the brake pedal. Any ideas?
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Bonneville Gxp Fuel Mileage
I average 20.5-21 mpg in my GXP. Mixed driving. I don't beat it, but I drive it how it's meant to be driven.

Re: Creaking in Left Front Wheel
CV boots seem ok, there is no green grease splattered all over. I would say its the wheel bearing, but I thought that usually was only noticed after a certain speed. I can literally put the car in drive or reverse, and let it roll no more than 5 or 6 inches, and I can hear it immediately. Tire ...

Creaking in Left Front Wheel
I have a noise that just started in my left front wheel that can best be described as a creaking sound, or sort of like the sound of a tire on hot ashphalt, if that makes any sense. It is speed sensitive, and it does it when the car is in drive, or nuetral just rolling. Anybody have any ideas?

Re: Castrol Edge
I have always run regular Valvoline oil in all my cars (28 years of driving), and have never had a problem, and change it every 3000-3500 miles. I'm sure synthetics have their advantages, but is it really worth the cost?

I just had this same exact problem with my 98. Turned out to be TPS and Crankshaft Sensor. Problem fixed.

Re: Bogging Down Briefly
Just an update: car threw a code the other day. Throttle Position Sensor and Crankshaft Position Sensor. Had both replaced, and car is running great with no stalling issues. Hope this helps somebody in the future.

Tires for the GXP
It's time for new tires for the GXP (good riddance to the Goodyear RS-A's). What tires are you guys running on your GXP's? Best deal I could find so far are Dunlops Sport Signatures. Good ratings on Tirerack, good looking tire. Anybody ever run these?

Re: Bogging Down Briefly
He actually did clean the throttle body. It has stalled twice since he cleaned everything. He said even though he cleaned it, it could still be bad, (IAC valve). Does anybody else think this could be the Crankshaft Sensor? Sounds like the classic symptoms (stalling, starting right back up)?

Re: Trans Dipstick?
On my GXP and Aurora (same tranny), it never showed any on the stick when cold. But, when warmed up and running, it read right where it should be.

Re: Bogging Down Briefly
Ok, after a thorough cleaning of the IAC and MAF sensor, the stalling has stopped. The IAC was really gunked up and the MAF was pretty dirty too. Just posting this in case anyone else has a stalling issue......
