The Bonneville is totaled.

Been a member here for many years and would like to thank you all for the good times and the great advice on repairs.
I gave my son my 01 Bonneville SE. He blacked out and hit a wood light pole at 40mph. On the passenger side.

He is fine other than a bruised knee. Blessed he wasn't injured and ...

2001 Bonneville continuous P0336 code

I replaced the CKP not even a year ago. Everything was fine until a month ago. Code came back. Parts store was nice enough to trade the old CPK for a new one and I paid a little more for the better brand.
I did the relearn with a Snap On tool.

Now it back to cutting off or hard starting with the ...

Re: Random misfire code....

I JUST went through this same scenario.

It happened out of nowhere.
I am fortunate enough to have a friend with a snap on scanner. Code was p0300 random misfire.
My next step, go to cylinder contribution and see which cylinders are misfiring.

#3 and #6 were misfiring. I figured well probably ...

Re: Heat/AC

It sounds like a blend door actuator. I have 2 vehicles in my yard now needing that part. An 05 Escalade, when the blend door actuator on it messes up. Cold AC stops and hot air comes out.
99 Town Car, its just making air only blow out of certain vents.

Do you have access to a good scanner tool ...

Re: Well had trans issue w my 04 GP GT so I picked up 98 Bon

Nice! I love that style. I had a 95 years ago. I still miss it.

The trans issue on the other car. It wasn't a hard shift was it? When those transmissions get the bad solenoids and start hardshifting. You can buy a transgo shift kit and install it and it will speed up the shifting just enough that ...

Re: 01 Bonneville SE Misfire on 3 and 6

UPDATE FIXED

I don't know how or why but replacing the Ignition Control Module fixed it.

I had tested it every way I could with info found online and it passed.

I live near a junkyard and they let me borrow one and it fixed even with my coils on it.

Thanks for the replies and the help.

Re: 01 Bonneville SE Misfire on 3 and 6

UPDATE but not fixed yet.

I tested the ICM. With one coil pack off. The bottom spade should have 12 volts with Key on Engine off. The upper blade will only throw 12 volts when the engine is cranking. So it appears the ICM is fine as far as telling the coil pack to send a signal to the coil and ...

Re: 01 Bonneville SE Misfire on 3 and 6

I am at my friends shop right now. Unfortunately, he doesn't have a lift open.
I can hear a knocking sound that changes with acceleration while in park. It sounds like its beneath the car.

Sometimes its in sync with the engine other times its not.

When I go to the passenger side of the car lay ...

01 Bonneville SE Misfire on 3 and 6

Son said the the old Bonneville was misfiring.
I got in the car the next morning and it was fine.
Until it warmed up.
Finally triggered a Service Engine Soon light.

Stopped by my friends shop and hooked up his Snap On Scanner. Only code was P0300.

So I went to cylinder contribution test in the ...

Finally got the GXP tail lights and center piece

I had this car for several years. I ended up selling it to my mom. She passed 3 years ago and my oldest son borrowed it from my dad and it had a coolant leak they weren't aware of and blew the motor at 137,000. I found another 2001 Bonneville se wrecked with 103,000 miles and pulled the engine and ...

Re: Any tail light options out there yet?

GXP taillights can be installed.

There isn't and will never be an aftermarket support of this type of thing for these cars. Their time of popularity has already passed; you hardly see these on the roads anymore.
Thanks. I was looking at some nice GXP tail lights earlier on ebay and they had it ...

Any tail light options out there yet?

I havent been on the forum for quite a few years. My mom developed breast cancer and her Town Car was a little much for her to drive. I gave her my 2001 Bonneville SE. She passed away almost 3 years ago now.
My dad still has the car. We were talking about getting it ready for my son who turns 15 ...

Re: 2005 bonneville sometimes shifts hard

my 01 bonne does this only once the car reaches 190-200 degrees whatever the full temp reading is. my best friend runs a transmission shop, he pulled the codes and said it was some solenoids in the transmission. he recommended a shift kit, although i had already read that on this forum. i bought the ...

Re: Car cutting off at random

all are great suggestion but the crankshaft position sensor causes this on many other makes and models with the 3800 engine.
i can recall watching a neighbor with a chevy lumina with 3800 go up the road, car cut off while driving, he'd throw it in neutral then crank it back up and keep on trucking.
