Re: Paint finsh
I feel sure it was only waxed. We'll keep an eye out for those swirls.

Re: Paint finsh
Thanks. He seemed to think it was a bad wax job done by someone who didn't know what he was doing, and/or someone washed it with a sandy gritty mitt or cloth, and that caused the swirls. Either way, they are gone, and I think I got a good deal. I guess that's what matters huh?

Re: Paint finsh
Thanks. I took it to a detail guy today. He waxed it and buffed it. Looks good as new. All I saw yesterday is gone. Cost me $60.00.
Strange thing this morning. I could not see the swirls and scratches this morning at all. No matter how hard I tried. I assume it must have been the "perfect storm" of ...

Paint finsh
I just bought a 2008 used car. Red. Washed it yesterday for the first time and I noticed that there are swirls on the driver side that look like someone pressed too hard on an electric buffer. It seems to have gotten into the clearcoat. Looks bad if the suns hits it just right. Seems like they were ...

Re: Rear Shocks?
Where can I get step by step instructions on doing this. I might just give it a shot. What is the most economical way to put a decent safe pair on without busting the piggybank? What do I need to get?
Thanks,

Rear Shocks?
$300 at Midas installed. $450 at Goodyear installled. I can't do it myself. Any better suggestions? Does not included mounts. These seem to be as good a price as I can find.

AC problem
Once in a while my ac will stop blowing cool air for a short period of time. 5-10 minutes. If I turn it off and back on a few times, it starts eventually cooling again, and might go several days without a problem. It's very hot where I live, and I am wondering what I need to check on to prevent this ...

Timing Belt/Chain??
Do these 3800 engines need to have a timing belt change at some point as preventative maintainence like the Japenses makes do?

Re: Transmission problem????
What's the easiest way to siphon out trans fluid. I think I'm going to just add some Lucas to it first, since the fluid in it is almost new anyway. I don't think the filiter was changed when it was flushed. The shop told me it wasn't necessary because the flush cleaned the filter too. Is that bull ...

Re: Transmission problem????
Only problem is that I did a complete flush 5000 miles ago, and the front mount has been replaced recently.

Re: Transmission problem????
I took my car to a transmission guy who came highly recommended. He told me that these cars transmissions normally last 130,000 to 150,000 miles.
Some more....some less..
I have a clunk when I come to a stop now sometimes, in addition to the temporary slippage going into gear at starts.

Is Ammco generally ok to work with? What do they charge to rebuild a transmission normally?

Re: Transmission problem????
No bang starts. Fluid level is exactly on full. Good pinkish red color. It did have a few small bubbles on it. I ran the car for about 15 minutes, then checked it according to the directions in the owners manual. I noticed that when I put it in reverse, it makes a clicking/pop sound that is ...
