Re: Contemplating a trunk lid swap
it's all pretty straight forward, only trouble spot might be the springs, I'd be cautious with those. lock cylinder is no probs, just take a good look at it, it's kind of self explanatory.

Re: Failed Emissions Test
HC high is nothing more than unburnt fuel exiting the exhaust. - plugs, wires, coils
then check for vacuum leaks, make sure the pcv valve has an o-ring in it.

Re: 93 ssei choppy/miss at light throtlle
I changed out the coils one at a time with some used replacements i had kicking around. never changed anything, after each coil change i'd go for a drive and have it do the same miss under light throttle. so i bought new plug wires, and it seemed to make the whole car a little better, but I'm still ...

Re: Need help figuring out if front caliper mounts are bad
If you never replaced the rotors after the calipers siezed up on you, they will need to be turned to get rid of the warp from overheating. I'd rather replace then turn them, but as long as they are quality parts you should have lots of meat on them.

93 ssei choppy/miss at light throtlle
when in drive, the bonne will stumble and just sound unhealthy. but its only at 1/4 inch of throttle, like when i'm creeping through a parking lot at 5 to 10 km/h. great torque, great takeoff, decent gas mileage, no rpm fluctuation in OD even under load, this has me baffled. I recently got a loud ...

Re: Rough idle
Just the regular AC delco coils are good enough. I remember you can use coils from a Gen2 and they deliver a tiny bit more zap, but you won't notice it.

Re: Frontend vibration... Kinda like wheel hop
My last car did that, if you hammer the gas from a stop, it vibrates like a bitch, but if you get it rolling just a bit, you can put the pedal through the floor and get it to engage without problems. I never figured out the problem, but I put 70k km's on it, and it never gave up.It has to be ...

Re: Brainstorming on lowering engine temps
Ever try to "California" the hood? You just put washers between the hood hinges and the hood, raising the back of the hood up a small amount, which allows hot air out of the engine bay. You dont have to cut holes in the hood, and its totally reversible. How about a ceramic coating on your manifolds?

Re: 93 Ei fails E-TEST
pcv is good. O2 sensor should throw HC up high, not N0x, if I understand correctly. I swapped the EGR out with one from the Junkyard, then I decided to pull vacuum lines. found a few with small cracks/ blisters, so I redid all the lines I could find. The car seems to have more power, and it shifts ...

Re: Alignment makes a difference
I just got an alignment at Canadian Tire. cost me 80 bucks, and all they did was adjusted the toe. no camber/caster or anything, they said that those adjustments cost extra ???? anyway, my car is better than before the alignment, but shouldnt they have adjusted the other settings?

Re: 93 Ei fails E-TEST
I cleaned up the iac today, it was very carboned up. I checked the FPR, and it looks newish, with no evidence of leakage. Rechecked all vacuum hoses, and never found a single leak. checked the tps, and it was good, smooth ohm sweep. the 02 sensor wire was up against a spark plug wire, so I moved it ...

Re: 93 Ei fails E-TEST
I've checked the car for vacuum leaks, couldn't find any. I'm going to go check the FPR as soon as I wake up a bit, then it's off to the junkyard for an EGR valve. Everything I've heard says O2 sensor would throw HC readings higher, but if all else fails, I will try it. Thanks for the info.

Re: 93 Ei fails E-TEST
No codes! As far as tune up goes, I only bought the car last fall, so the previous owner had tuned it up, he said recently, plug wires look newer, as do the plugs. Car runs good, it has loads of power, the gas sat in it over winter, so I let it go to 1/4 tank, then i put 25$ worth of 91 octane ...
