Digitial driver information display

Hi, any ideas?
The 1997 SSE's driver information display is flickering/flashing. Sometimes goes out but comes back on.... Please any input? THANKS!

I've been living with this occasional problem on my '92 SSE.

The permanent fix is reportedly to remove the dash cluster and reseat the electrical connections, or to replace the cluster if it's defective. I removed and reseated the connections on mine, but the problem returned several months later.

There may be a simple workaround for the problem on yours, though. Press the 'Set' button on the digital compass once. Someone posted this tip on another topic, and I was skeptical to try it, but on my '92 it fixes the display immediately, and seems to fix the problem for at least a while.

Thanks I guess I will try that. I can do that w/o taking the entire dash out, right?

The next time it happens, simply press the 'Set' button on the digital compass. As I said, it worked on my '92 and it's been several months since that time.

I did try that today but the digital portion still flickered. I will see tomorrow when I use the car again.... I will let you know.... would like to try and fix....
