The VWs that got fixed free were all diesels that had an additional foam sound deadener that held water and crud that caused the problem.
As for fixing it yourself, I hope your weighing the options, your over $100 in material alone for something that may or may not work. But I'll help non the less ...

Re: WHY!?!?!?! Peeling paint!
After all the loose stuff is off, and the rust/contamination is gone, that should stop the peeling back. You can do a light scuff sanding, (anything to course will cut through the galvanized coating and be worse for you. Touching up is temp because is can still peel off and/or rust there is no real ...

I would highly recommend having it fixed by the pros, you can touch it up (like I did) buy that's a temp fix AT BEST.

Re: WHY!?!?!?! Peeling paint!
Yeah definitely acid based. But you'd be fine for what you need, your just cleaning and wiping dry nothing prolonged. I know its not cheap, but neither is your car.
You could try the other stuff to, might work the same or close.

Re: WHY!?!?!?! Peeling paint!
For some reason, the paint on these Holden cars is very "hard" or "brittle" as my body shop friend told me when he was working on mine years back. Meaning, a good impact with an errant rock, creates a larger than normal chip and/or chunk taken down to the base.

Yep, both side same spot last week. I would get a close look at the other side if I were you..

Long time no see.. One pick wonder time..
Haven't been around these parts much as of the past year or so :???:
But I was doing some lurking and see that here are a hell of a gathering of G8's slowly building, so I figured I'd show of mine since it hasn't been seen in a long time here, and there has been lots of modding in that time. :wink ...

My HSV GTS wheel is doing it as well. Maybe ⅛" - ¼" but I noticed it. I'll just live with it, not paying that much for another wheel again.

How do you have G8's and not be on G8Board? :)
Don't fall for that Grrrr8.net or whatever. He was one of the disruptive %&(*&_(&%# that we banned from G8Board. He got his undies in a bunch and went and created his own board. Then spammed members on G8Board through PM to come join his. G8Board is ...

Re: 2009.5 G8 GXP Update Pg 3.
I would love the 3 gauge setup that John has, but it's big bucks, and you can no longer get the HSV gauges. so I'd have to populate it with other gauges.
Not true at all, you just have to keep a sharp eye on Grrrr8.net I'm always helping the guy(CrazyPaul) get them so that he can sell them to ...

Your 20" wheels look so hot but aren't you worried about damaging them on those rough TO frost heaved streets?
My brother had 20" on his car and lost a couple of wheels to pot holes.
I just read a write up in the most recent Automobile mag on a new Charger with the 20" wheels and they damaged 3 ...

Re: The little things that make a big difference (poll)
if its a bang for the buck thing, then all of the above!
and for the most eye catching, it depends on colour, if your car is black, or dark blue maybe, then a good wax is most eye catching, if its a light colour, then the wheels would be the most eye catching.
