I am amazed how clean it is, there are some scratches on the hood and roof from stuff sitting/sliding on it and one dime size dent on the passenger front fender but other than that it is crazy clean.95naSTA wrote:That thing is freaking mint, like SW states mint.

The Cutlass goes away and is replaced by an old diesel...
Or should I say, Oldsmobile diesel :helpsmilie:
The Cutlass has been sold. It was horribly rotted out underneath including a rotted and cracked frame. It's been sitting on jack stands in my garage for two years now with the trans ripped out, when I found this I decided it was time for it to go. I ...

I'm in! Schedule shows that to be my weekend off so I'll be there for sure! No idea if I'll be in the truck, Cutlass, or Century but *dang* I'll be there.

Re: Head gasket?
You may be able to rent a compression tester at your local auto parts store, I know for sure you can buy them for under $100 and they are as simple to use as pulling a spark plug, threading the tester into the hole, and turning the key for a couple seconds.

Re: Left front tranny/motor mount mystery part
If it is still there just leave it, if it is rusted and loose about to fall off go ahead and pull it off and throw it away. If it is already gone just leave it, it won't hurt anything. Just there to help dampen some vibration as mentioned above.

Next step would be a compression test and leak down test.

Re: Power problem
Does the cruise control work or is that dead as well? I had a similar issue as well with my 02 SE documented here http://www.pontiacbonnevilleclub.com/forum/everything-electrical-and-electronic/topic39349.html

Basically will outlast the body of the car but will have some slack by 200,000 miles.imidazol97 wrote:How long do the timing chain and valves last on these engines?

Re: Head gasket?
If the LIM gaskets have been replaced two or three times in the last couple years I feel something definitely is not being done exactly right. Same shop or same person do the work?

Re: Head gasket?
Hood getting hot right there... the front exhaust manifold is ran right below that, it gets pretty hot. Bad head gasket will typically show in one of two ways or both, clouds of white smoke out the exhaust even when hot (normal to have white smoke / steam on any engine when cold) and/or overpressure ...

I'm in! As it stands right now though I work Friday night so unless I can swap days I won't be there until Saturday afternoon. Shouldn't be a problem though to get days swapped and get there Friday though. I'll be bringing the camper of the ground is solid too.

Re: De-badge gone wrong? Ryan!!!
If the area where the badge was is lower then the surrounding paint and the clear coat around it is peeling, you have a respray, a cheap respray at that. They taped around the badge and painted up to it. You can try to wet sand it to feather it out and polish it back out but doing so will compromise ...

Re: Market Info Wanted: # of GM Cars that Have Rotted Subfra
To be blunt, the market for the 87 - 99 H / C bodies is basically dead except for maybe a dozen nut cases like us here that would actually spend money on one to keep it going. For the most part now they are $2,000 cars and if the subframe rots enough to drop down there is a 90% chance the rest of ...
