Re: turbo vs supercharged
interesting views. some of you are saying totally opposite of what i have heard. not a big deal really. the odds of me doing this is pretty slim. part of this post was for me to get your guys view on it and get me some better knowledge of the differences in what our motors can handle and not. i ...

Re: turbo vs supercharged
What is it that this guy drives/has driven? Unless he's worked on 3800's and has the knowledge of them that we do, I'd advise you take his advice at face value, and listen to what we have to say.
kind of why i through this at you guys. lol..

turbo vs supercharged
i have been talking to a guy at work who has modified his last 3-4 cars. By modified i mean $10k-$15k of engine work. We were discussing my car and i was telling him some of the things i wanted to do to it. Basically the list of minor mods, things like rockers, headers, etc.. He told me to turbo it ...

i was told by a salvage yard the other day that the 2002 transmissions are a year fit only. the next thing he told me was good luck. lol.. i don't need one, yet. i hope to never need one. going to change the pcs soon, i hope, and i'm hoping thats all i have to do to the transmission until i'm ready ...

vavle covers
appears i have to change the valve cover gaskets. went and priced them at two local parts stores. lol.. i about fell over. i expected a high of around $20. nope. turns out the n/a engines are around $12 and the supercharged ones are anywhere from $52 - $71. luckily rockauto has them for as low as ...

Re: fwi vs cai
the fact that youre not moving and sucking in heat is going to happen with both fwi and cai. the whole idea is to get that cooler air while youre moving. and the fwi does it better than the cai.

Re: a very strange knock???
i would think if you changed all that and didnt change the oil when you did the work then possibly that could have damaged the bearings. that or they got damaged when you had the first issue.

ram air for looks
anyone ever think about modifying their hood and installing a ram air style scoops? no, i'm not wanting a debate on does it help for getting more air, cold air or not, into the motor. this is simply for appearances. nothing more. don't even care if they let little or any air in. well, maybe some air ...

Re: Ceramic vs Semi Metallic
i think he meant, what are differences in braking, not breaking.
i thought the pads were what made the difference in the stopping not the rotors. don't get me wrong a bigger rotor would help stop better than a smaller one but if the rotors are the same i think the pads would be the deciding factor.

Re: Groaning brakes
Did you replace the rear rotors, have them turned, or did you do nothing to them?
On a side note:
Never have rear/solid rotors turned.
is this because the rear rotors are so thin?
where did you get your pads? i've had a bad set of pads on my car before and after jacking up the rearend and ...

Re: Rear end Sway
glad to hear you got the rearend fixed.
the steering wheel turning would more than likely be tie rod ends. fixing them will help with some of your shimmy, probably not all. 11-1 movement sounds like quite a bit to me. should be really noticable to your mechanic. make sure you get them fixed. saw a ...

mine comes on also. it has came on from in town driving 25-30 mph and also at highway 55-60 mph. i thought it was a bearing but none of them appear to be loose. i might check into the steering next.
