IM BACK....but not in a bonneville

I've been gone for quite awhile. I have fully recovered from a head on collision that destroyed my Bonneville. I'm back with something a little old school  . 1968 Bel air. Numbers matching engine and trans (not for long). 307 with a 2spd powerglide. Currently being restored. Here are the ...

Re: The Beast Has Awaken

Well giving everyone an update. Got new factory mirrors coming in the mail to replace the sport m3 mirrors. They will be for sale if anyone is interested. Truck drives good but the temp sensor is going bad and the distributor cap needs replaced. Truck gets a good 475-550 miles on a full tank of gas ...

Wow...looked like a decent sized impact to the truck. Hope everyone was ok. Looking forward to this project. Are those mirrors electric? My truck cane with aftermarket mirrors and am having a hard time finding decent used power mirrors.

Re: new project for the truck!

That's similar to what he sent me. I'm going with a Street Warrior "Street Fire" performance HEI distributor. It comes with parts that allow easy hookup of msd ignition parts. Throttle body space is also a must as it will increase hp, torque, and mpg. You can get them at advanced auto for $40. It ...

Re: new project for the truck!

I'm going to have to agree with you swampthing. It amazing the knowledge that members have regarding vehicles. The guy at tbichips knows his stuff. He emailed me a detailed walkthrough on the vortec head swap. Since I already have an egr delete...it makes the swap a tad bit easier.

Re: new project for the truck!

My egr is blocked off at the moment. Dealership I bought it from said it was disabled by the first owner when it was bought new. It still has the egr attached....just a block off plate under it. Thank god I don't have emissions where I live...cause the cat was also removed as well. Explains the ...

Re: Door Panel Removal.

You will need a 10 mm socket and extensions, a flat blade screw driver, trim removal tool, you will also need a torx bit but I can't think of the size of the top of my my skull. The bolts/nuts are located behind the handle, the lights located on the door and behind the door cup holder. After you ...

Re: Looked under my oil cap

Look at where the lower intake mounts to the cylinder head. If you see a black plastic gasket then it is time to replace them. Make sure you get the aluminum gaskets. Might as well replace the plenum while your at it.

When I had this problem it was due to rotted out subframe bushing holes. Turning caused the subframe to shift and bang up against the bolt.

Sounds like spark knock....it wouldn't hurt to change the plugs and get some Belden wires.
