Re: Fog Lamps
I've found that the stock fog lights work very well in dense fog. If it's driving lights you want (more light in clear night conditions), I'd suggest something else. Fog lights are mounted lower to the road and have a wider beam. I've noticed that the stock fog lights illuminate more of the shoulder ...

Re: Heater fan LOUD
Yep. Figured that out AFTER I pulled the blower motor. It had a dead mouse in it. Now having a rough time getting it back in (the blower motor, not the mouse). If only I'd waited for the sage advice from this forum...

Re: desperate need of some help/advice
Mine did the same thing - spit, sputter, shake, then... bang. A cloud of smoke and she was down the road. A new catholic (catalytic) converter solved it.

Re: Heater fan LOUD
Thanks for the quick reply.
I thought I'd pull the cabin filter to see if there's any debris, etc. in there. To get to the blower motor, I'm going in from the passenger side interior, no?
Looks like Parts Train has the OE (Delphi) for $67.39 shipped. Anyone ever used this outfit?

Heater fan LOUD
With no obvious warning signs, my heater fan now has a very loud roar and vibration, as if it were missing a blade or two. I haven't dug into it yet, as it just happened tonight. If the fan itself is intact, what might be other possibilities?

Re: Overheat
Update:
Did a top overhaul. Running well now. New water pump (cast fins), coolant elbows, alternator bracket & o-rings, belts, timing chain, and other stuff I don't recall at the moment.
Thanks to all on this forum. Don't know if I could've done it without all the help...

Re: Heater Inlet Adapter/Flow Restrictor/Check Valve
Appreciate the reply.
In my search, I saw the Honeymoon notice.
I'm expecting to replace the o-rings and not the adapters. We'll see what shape they're in when I pull them.

Heater Inlet Adapter/Flow Restrictor/Check Valve
Anyone have a part number or part source for this? It's the metal adapter that fits into the heater hose and then into the alternator/tensioner bracket. I've been searching around this forum and found the proper name(s) for it. Also found a diagram on the Brunswick GM site. They had the parts on the ...

Re: CNC Heads
No other mods at this point. Original heads are off and being rebuilt to stock standards.
So the ported heads are of no effect without other mods?

CNC Heads
Thinking of upgrading to ZZ Performance's CNC Ported heads for my 2001 SSEi. What are the caveats? PCM issues? Fuel mileage? Stresses on other parts or systems?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Overheat
Tested and confirmed leakage. Top end overhaul underway. Heads measure out at .022, so they'll be redone. Will do water pump and timing chain as well. This may belong in a separate post, but anyone have any recommendations on water pumps? More specifically, any particular brand to avoid?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Overheat
The cylinder leak down test is one with which I'm familiar as this is how we test compressions in air cooled aircraft engines. I wondered if there was an application for automobiles as it seemed easier, or least more accurate, than the usual procedures.

Re: Overheat
Thermostat drilled, reinstalled and bleed procedure completed. Temp seems normal. One symptom remains, however. Bubbles are seen in the reservoir while engine is running and for a short time thereafter. There seem to be no leaks at water pump nor heater elbows. Will run bleed at thermostat housing ...

Re: Overheat
Will do and thanks again. Been busy with family stuff and haven't gotten to the Bonneville. When I do, I'll let y'all know my findings..
At the risk of sounding gushy, I'm very appreciative of the help I've gotten from this forum. Hope I can repay favors.

Re: Somebody HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My 2001 SSei would shut down without apparent reason. It always restarted, but usually after multiple attempts. Long story short, it ended up being a corroded terminal somewhere back near or at the fuel pump. My mechanic replaced the terminal with new and problem solved. Note: It took the guy a day ...

Re: Overheat
I'll have a closer look soon and will post my findings. Frequent oil changes have not shown any signs of coolant contamination. She's about due for another, so I'll check closely. No white smoke.
Thanks again.

Overheat
Working on my 2001 SSei, 242K miles. I had a coolant leak and couldn't find it until I had a high heat/overheat condition. The temperature gauge was in the red, so I shut it down. The culprit was a cracked heater elbow fitting (Help! part # 47065). I replaced both elbows and the termostat (it needed ...
