Re: you first 3800.....
My first 3800 was a '96 Camaro, followed by the 3800 S/C '95 Park Avenue, and after a few V8s, now my S/C '97 Park Avenue.

Re: Air Intakes
Just go to eBay and get a cheap ChromeIntakes type intake. They are a simple bent aluminum tube with necessary hardware and sensor hole and are actually pretty decent quality. Spring for the version with the K&N cone filter, and you can make a heat shield if you're so inclined.

Re: Speakers
A lot of it depends on your particular sound preferences and musical tastes. Personally if I had to have only one speaker size, I'd do 6x9, as my general sound preferences are better achieved by a quality 6x9. So in my 95 Park Avenue, I modified the speaker brackets in the doors away from the 5.25 ...

Re: Questions about Kenwood DDX9702S
Their pricing is hit and miss. I often find that their headunits come out to being the very aggressively priced when you consider that it comes with all necessary installation gear for free, and you get the peace of mind that comes with their excellent customer service. But other times, they're ...

Re: Questions about Kenwood DDX9702S
It's worth noting too that www.crutchfield.com has quite an extensive research base that will help you significantly in figuring out what you will need for your specific application, as well as some dimensional limits for headunit and speaker depth and the like. They also have great customer support ...

Re: L67 whistling noise
Interesting. Maybe I'll try running the engine without the other belt and see if it still whistles. That would help isolate it if it were the IAC.

Re: L67 whistling noise
I found a very small vacuum line going to the engine under the snout and inspected it and it checks out. I also disconnected the Supercharger belt and ran the engine and the noise was unaffected. I kind of think it's the alternator, but don't understand why replacing the bearings didn't quiet it ...

Re: L67 whistling noise
I'll check for that vacuum hose. The reason I haven't pulled a belt yet is because of the tremendous work that entails that I just went through a couple months ago. I'll see if I can remove the supercharger belt and get it out of the way enough without removing it to prevent a snag and start it up ...

L67 whistling noise
My L67 has a whistling noise I have been trying to track down. It's apparent mostly in stop and go traffic at low RPM. I thought it was the alternator, so I purchased a rebuild kit and replaced the bearings and brushes. I also replaced all four idler pulleys with bearings. The whistling seem ...

Re: Recommend a Double-DIN head unit for me.
Did you make sure you were careful about the exact format of the discs? My Jeep plays MP3 CDs, but it has certain requirements that must be met for the CD to play. It has to be .MP3 format only, 96, 128, or 192kbps, maximum of two folder levels, etc etc. The requirements are very specific and it ...

Re: Recommend a Double-DIN head unit for me.
It's interesting, on my previous Jeep ('04) with an even more outdated navigation system, the previous owner had added a unit that sat behind the knee panels that had a 3.5mm jack coming off it and an auxiliary switch to select inputs. I just selected CD as my source, and pushed the button to switch ...

Re: Water leaking into blower motor?
The intake for the system is at the base of the windshield on the passenger side. There should be a screen over the intake to keep leaves and such from getting in. If the screen is broken and tree droppings are getting in, it's possible that it's clogged the drains around this intake that are meant ...

Re: Water leaking into blower motor?
Do you get a sweet smell when you turn on your HVAC system? Or a oily residue on your windshield when you use the defrost? Generally moisture in the ducts is due to either clogged A/C evaporator drains or a leaking heater core. The sweet smell and/or oily residue would point to the latter. There is ...

Re: Recommend a Double-DIN head unit for me.
Unfortunately I cannot really recommend a unit for you, but I can tell you that I did fairly extensive research on the subject with wants/needs similar to yours and ultimately decided on a Kenwood Nav unit. After having it for a month, I hated everything about it so much that I returned it ...

Re: 97 vs 98+ Park Avenue Struts
Sorry; I should have been more specific. I'm looking at the FRONT struts for my '97 Park Avenue. The 98+ struts appear, based on the gabriel specs, to be about an inch shorter with a shorter stroke. I'd imagine this means (assuming ride height didn't change) the knuckle the strut mounts to changed ...

97 vs 98+ Park Avenue Struts
Does anyone know what changed in 97 vs 98-05 Park Avenue struts? I'm not sure if the same applies to Bonnies, but there's a different P/N for 97 Park Aves vs 98-05, with '97 having much less selection at a much higher price point, and no quick strut available.

Re: Strange Clacking Noise From Passenger Side Dash
It sounds very clear, like it is definitely coming from inside the dash rather than a flapping trim piece outside. It only does it occasionally, in bouts like the one in the video. In fact, it hasn't done it in about a month. Wind levels don't seem to affect it, and I played with and eventually ...

Re: Sunroof problem
I lube all the moving parts with marine grade white lithium grease, then claybar and wax the inner rim of the sunroof opening on the body and dress the sunroof's weatherstripping (after wiping it down with soap and water to clean it) with graphite suspended in oil (used for locks usually). I've ...

Strange Clacking Noise From Passenger Side Dash
I have a weird clacking sound that seems to be coming from inside the dash on the passenger side. I picture a hinged plastic lid closing quickly and bouncing slightly. Hard to describe, so here's a video:
