I have a 2001 SSEi that has water problems. I thought it was the sunroof but it still leaks.
The last couple days we got a ton of rain and while driving I could hear water running. I pinpointed it to the blower motor. When the fan is off, no water sound. When the fan was on, you can hear the water running again.
How is it getting in there!? Is it going to take out my blower motor? How can I fix it?!

Do you get a sweet smell when you turn on your HVAC system? Or a oily residue on your windshield when you use the defrost? Generally moisture in the ducts is due to either clogged A/C evaporator drains or a leaking heater core. The sweet smell and/or oily residue would point to the latter. There is seldom any way for rain water to enter the ducts.

No sweet smell. No oily residue. I've only noticed this after it was a hard rain. I really think water got into the ducts.Schlotzky wrote:Do you get a sweet smell when you turn on your HVAC system? Re: Water leaking into blower motor?
The intake for the system is at the base of the windshield on the passenger side. There should be a screen over the intake to keep leaves and such from getting in. If the screen is broken and tree droppings are getting in, it's possible that it's clogged the drains around this intake that are meant to drain the rain and carwash water out.

This sounds like the problem! I will take a look and see if I can find those drains to check if they are clogged.Schlotzky wrote:The intake for the system is at the base of the windshield on the passenger side. Thanks for the help!
