Re: Feels like I am limping...

Broken belt in tire, a good possibility
Jack the car up and spin the wheel
Usually will get a high spot on one side of the tire or the other

Not a good sign :-$
If he didn't just change or add fluid, it is probably airation causing level to raise
Most likely a pump or converter issue
You could always try to siphon some out the dipstick tube, but may cause level to be too low
The only other test is to look at the shift lever on the ...

Re: Low speed squeak

If it was a bearing issue, it may not do it without a load

When you recheck your calipers, use neverseize on the slides and membrane on the pads, that should eliminate that brake possibility

Re: Low speed squeak

Did you check the indicators on the brake pads?
Sometimes you can get metalic build up in a pad or caliper slide/pad squeek from slight looseness with the hub/rotor, which goes usually away if you keep brake pedal pressure

Re: Swoopy leaks

Probably not a salt issue as it is internal
My 03 Rally had the same issue and 5-6 trips to the tire shops over a year
No one ever took the tire off, just broke bead and applied sealer
the funny thing it was just the inner rim beads on all the wheels, outside chroming was flawless>> manufacturing ...

Re: Swoopy leaks

If you have chromed alloys, the chrome is pitting on where the tire bead seats
When it gets really bad the air leaks under the chrome and out the bead
Sealers don't always fix the problem, the only way is to take the tire off the rim and grind the flaky/corroded chrome smooth, then use the sealer

Thanks
I've had mine up in the air in gear and noise is from the oilpan/trans area
as it rolls forward, you can hear the squeek, squeek, squeek from that area until it reaches a higher rpm then goes away

Hard shifts, with a twist

For anyone with the 4T65E and the intermittant, hard shift issue caused by solenoid>
Has anyone experianced a noise [stopped, in gear] that develops only after the hard shifts occur?

My 2000se has done this for some time> done the Sfoam/Lucas fix with no benifit

Noise is a metal/squeek/cage rattle ...

Try jacking the car up from the lower control arm under the spring leaving the suspension compressed
Take a large pair of channel locks with one jaw on the top of the link end and the other on the bottom of the bolt and see if there is any play in the end when you compress it
Link ends and tie rod ...

Re: 65mph shimmy

It's not just balance but can be out of round
any OOR tire can balance out to zero and most newer balancers and shops only spin at slower speeds
Jack your car in the air enough to put a socket undet the tire and spin by hand and look for any OOR, most MFG's give a spec, but you would want NO more ...

Moog's would be rubber, Master may? be PolyUR [would be colored] which would give tighter response
If rubber, would be no difference

For those of you who have swapped factory Delfi HU's that needed the Tech2?

Did you have to utliize the Tech2, BEFORE the display would show?
