97 Bonneville Rear Brake Line with different flares at ends

I removed a leaking (rotted) rear brake line for my right rear wheel. It is about 40 inches long, and 3/16" steel brake line with a M10x1.0 male connector at each end, but the flared ends are different.

One end has a long narrow connector with 3/8-24 UNF (SAE) thread with inverted flare (also known ...

Re: High-Pitch Grinding Noise while driving

I put up with the grinding noise for quite a while, until I added Lucas power steering stop leak fluid, after removing most of the old fluid from the power steering reservoir. The stuff is awesome! It eliminated the grinding noise, and made my steering a lot easier to turn.

Re: Car pulls to the right while accelerating and braking.

I finally found what's causing my car to pull to the right when braking or accelerating.
A couple of years ago, I replaced my front left ball joint assembly (3 bolts & nuts hold it) because its ball joint was worn out. That was the second tiime I replaced it.
A close look at it showed that one of ...

Re: Wanted: New T55 hub/bearing bolts

Thanks but I'd rather get hex bolts (below) at a harware store (price?) or boltdepot.com ($1.32 each) because the old Torx bolts' heads (inside) are nearly worn out due to rust and are very hard to torque to 13 ft-lbs without the Torx bit stripping the inside of the bolt head. I'm assuming that a ...

Torque spec for 97 Bonnie's Front Hub/Bearing Axle

Yesterday, I replaced a front hub/bearing and torqued its Hub/Bearing Axle nut to about 110 ft.-lbs., and its 3 Torx mounting bolts to around 105 ft-lbs.

Are these correct?

Re: Car pulls to the right while accelerating and braking.

I checked the tie rods after I disconnected the outer ones from the steering knuckle, and they are OK, except that I can't adjust them, for alignment purposes, with regular open-ended wrenches, due to excess rust in the threads between them. Later, when I need to replace the outer ones, I'll try ...

OK thank you. I will check and maybe remove the tie rods, both inner and outer, I haven't replaced them since my car was brand new in 1997.

Re: Car pulls to the right while accelerating and braking.

The tire treads look fine and they are relatively new tires, was only 5,000 miles on them.

The only front end suspension parts that I haven't changed since I bought the car new are the front tie rods. Also, do you think maybe a bad steering rack would cause my car's problems?

Re: Car pulls to the right while accelerating and braking.

These might cause my car to pull to the right when braking, but which of these would most likely cause my car to pull to the right every time when accelerating and driving in a straight line at a steady speed (at any speed)?

Car pulls to the right while accelerating and braking.

My 97 SE, with a Series II 3800 motor, has a serious steering & braking problem as follows:

While braking and accelerating, my car pulls to the right, and more when driving faster. This is very apparent while driving on the highway. I thought that one or more of the engine and/or tranny mounts are ...

Wanted: New T55 hub/bearing bolts

I replaced an original front hub/bearing on my 97 Bonneville, after 182,000 miles, and it wasn't easy removing its 3 T55 bolts having severe rust around their heads. I finally removed them by using a butane torch, an 8" plumber's wrench (monkey wrench), and a 5 lb hammer to whack the wrench to get ...

Re: Need a wiring diagram for a 1997 SE

The comb-like thing in your diagram is solid copper, and its "fingers" connect to all the ground wires via female clip-on connectors that wear out and are impossible to find online because they're super-high quality. Instead, I used easy-to-find parts to fix it, and has lasted many years without any ...

Re: Need HVAC Wiring Diagram for 97 SE w/Auto Climate Contro

Thank You greatly for the wiring diagrams! They're just what I needed.

I'll check online to see if my HVAC modules are the same as for a 98 Bonneville.

If so, then your diagrams should work perfectly for me.

Re: 1997 Bonneville, Security light stays on

I think that bypassing the resistor embedded in the key, by connecting the same value resistor to the two white wires (after cutting them) that are normally connected to the key cylinder in the steering column, will fail an insurance claim ONLY if the claim was for a stolen vehicle. I don't think a ...

Need HVAC Wiring Diagram for 97 SE w/Auto Climate Control

Hi, My 97 Bonneville SE doesn't blow any heat and it's starting to get cold in New Hampshire.
So far, I verified that the blower motor works when connected directly to 12VDC.
Also, I installed a new Blower Control Module under the hood (in the firewall) and a new Heater Core.

To troubleshoot ...

Re: Need Referral for Recycling Yard in Southwest (rust-free

I didn't find any local recycling yards that had my needed suspension parts, but I used car-part.com to find great parts at:

A-1 Auto Recyclers, Kirtland, NM 1-505-325-1994. My Rear Left Control Arm was only $45 +$25 S/H.

It arrived RUST FREE, about a week later, and even included the bushings and ...

Thanks for your offer, but it seems that the only undercarriage suspension damage was to the Rear Right control arm, which was bent from the accident. There's body damage, but I can manage that.
