Re: '02 Bonneville -> '97 Riviera engine swap

The problem I see is that the bonneville has the "Wide track" thing going on, which would indicate some sort of difference in the suspension setup

'02 Bonneville -> '97 Riviera engine swap

Hey all, a buddy of mine has an '02 SSEi and I have an NA '97 Riviera. We were hoping to swap cradles but have been told so far that there is absolutely no way a Bonnie cradle will fit into a Riv, which is a shame because that seems like the easiest way to swap drivetrains. Are there any other ...

Re: Installing a GM "Black tie" Radio in a '98 SE

Holy wow this is well done. Very excited to see the finished product, and now I kind of want to stick a black tie in my '97 Riviera. Should be a bit easier considering I already have a 2DIN opening.

Exactly what pin is this wire going to? Is it labeled in any wiring diagrams or pinouts?

Re: 4T65E manual solenoid control?

Full manual control would still be preferred but... that's pretty cool. How does one go about adding this switch and enabling it? This sounds a lot like my friend's Chevy Sonic where the tune can be reverted back to stock by hitting the Cruise Control button.

4T65E manual solenoid control?

My car pulls double duty as a daily driver and as a track car, and I've found that an automatic transmission is pretty *shoot* at adapting to those two roles. When cruising on the highway, I want it to hold onto the highest gear possible for fuel economy and to keep my revs from bumping too high (my ...

Re: DeVille struts?

Yes, FE5 struts from a GXP would be ideal, but I can't find any to save my life.

Re: DeVille struts?

Hmm, *dang*. That's what I figured. What's my best bet to find stiffer springs/struts on car-part.com, then? Anything particular to search/look for? Everything I can find is from DeVilles, SeVilles, and it doesn't specify if it's FE3 or FE1

DeVille struts?

A local junk yard has some good-condition 04 Caddy DeVille front struts for $30 each. I've heard the DeVille uses different hubs than the Bonneville/Seville/LeSabre/ParkAvenue/etc. but are the struts compatible with our stuff? Furthermore, will these have a noticeable handling improvement over FE0/1 ...

Re: Sway bar options?

I found an FE5 GXP front sway bar that should be shipping here later this week, and tomorrow I'm picking up an FE3 STS sway bar for the rear. I know I'm going to need end links and probably body bushings, but are there any parts other than that I'll need to stick these on my LeSabre?

Re: Sway bar options?

Yeah, but considering I can get a Park Avenue F41 for $60 shipped, and I can't find GXP parts *anywhere* I might just go with that until I can get a Riviera later next year. I'm considering welding up my own rear sway bar, but it looks like my design would ram into the exhaust so that nixes that ...

Re: Sway bar options?

So the Park Avenue Ultra F41 is the same thing as a Pontiac FE2, FE3, or FE5? I wish I could find people who actually owned these cars and could do a comparison for me :P

As for the entire suspension swap... not really in the cards. I'm likely going to be buying a PAU next spring, and just want my ...

Re: Howdy!

I already did a downstream O2 sensor delete after breaking it while installing my glasspack (oops) so no worries about codes being thrown. I do wonder how much I could get for that converter at a recycling place, though.

Re: "The Murdersofa" - 2000 LeSabre Limited

It's certainly interesting. I'm always dead-last (only person with a FWD automatic, and the consistently the worst power-to-weight ratio), but *dang* I have the most fun there.

Re: Sway bar options?

What's the difference between the FE3 from a Seville and an F41 from a Park Avenue Ultra? Those are the only two bars I can find on eBay, and nobody I know has a GXP in their salvage yards.

EDIT: For that matter, what's the difference between a GXP FE5 and a PAU F41? What I'm reading says the F41 ...

Re: Howdy!

How difficult is it to install a shift kit? Looks like a lot of springs and such, and I'm guessing draining then replacing all of the trans fluid.

Also, did you get a difference in sound after gutting your cat? I'm thinking of replacing mine with a straight piece of pipe and selling it to buy more ...

Re: Howdy!

Hooray for cheap mods! The hockey puck mod is for a transmission mount, right?

As for a shift kit, I've considered it. The tune I have firmed up the tranny a bit, but I think my 2-3 and 3-4 clutches are slipping a fair amount. Not sure if a shift kit would help or accelerate that particular issue.

Re: "The Murdersofa" - 2000 LeSabre Limited

Nothing to the engine other than the tune, if that counts. I'd like to get a ZZP N/A performance cam for it, but dropping $350 is a bit out of reach at the moment, and it would only be marginally more expensive to buy a 130,000-mile L67 from a friend.
