'02 Bonneville -> '97 Riviera engine swap

Post by Pilot of the Murdersofa »

Hey all, a buddy of mine has an '02 SSEi and I have an NA '97 Riviera. We were hoping to swap cradles but have been told so far that there is absolutely no way a Bonnie cradle will fit into a Riv, which is a shame because that seems like the easiest way to swap drivetrains. Are there any other straightforward easy ways to swap the two? Unbolt the hoods and just lift the whole drivetrain out of the car? I was hoping to get the PS and shocks from the bonneville as a part of the swap which probably won't happen if this was being done engine-out-the-top style

Thanks for any help

I believe it is possible, since they are technically the same chassis with the Bonne having a shorter wheelbase. Hopefully someone else chimes in to confirm. Most people favor lifting the drivetrain out the top, like you mentioned.

The problem I see is that the bonneville has the "Wide track" thing going on, which would indicate some sort of difference in the suspension setup
