I have the belief (because I don't remember from the last time I had the Tail Lenses removed to replace lamps) that one of the sockets in each Tail Lens is a Brake/Tail Lite and one is a Tail Lite only.

Where I'm going with this is if one is a Brake/Tail Lite socket and one is a Tail Lite only, what kind of mayhem would I cause if I converted the one Tail Lite only socket to a Brake/Tail Lite socket (and of course wiring it that way into the wiring harness) and replacing the incandescent lamps with dual function LEDs?

Thanks - BC

You have 4 brake lights out back plus the raised center under the wing. If you find some quality dual intensity LEDs, get them in red and go to town. It's plug and play.

So, if I only have the "outside" brake lamps lighting when the brakes are applied, then the two interior brake lamps are open. Ok, thanks! That's what I vaguely remember, but then my memory has "gone to the dogs". I'm sure though that the dog's memory is better than mine - lol! - BC

I'm not sure if your trying to find LEDS that look sorta like the stock bulbs, but I put these in my car and I really like the look of them https://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinf ... t-car/633/ They are a little more expensive than the ones you were looking at, but I can admit these are very bright... I am actually thinking about getting these in amber to put in the front/rear turn signals also.

I need the "new" LED lamps to 1) to fit into the tail lens, and 2) be at least as bright as the OEM incandescent bulbs. They were touching the tail lens from the inside. So I tried back-up LED's that in appearance are very similar to the ones you used. They were very similar to the 3157-R25. Thanks - BC

Ok, ya I like the ones I put in, they seem to have a light pattern similar to OEM bulbs, but are noticebly brighter. I think they fit just fine in the housing, they are just slightly longer than an incandescent bulb.

The published dimensions of the LEDs you use are longer/higher than OEM. I am concerned that the LED replacement could possibly cause problems with the lens over a period of time. - BC

I have had my lights in for probably about a year now, and they seem absolutely fine. Your looking for lights for your 2005 correct?

Yes, 2005 SE. I may be overly cautious, but I was just brousing for Tail Lenses and I couldn't believe the asking price for some bretty rough looking Tail Lenses. - BC

Ya, I know what you mean about those prices. I'm no expert in LEDS but I'm pretty sure they actually run cooler than incandescent so they have less chance of melting the lens... don't quote me on that though...

LEDs like the ones for the tail lights produce no perceivable heat. Make sure you get red ones if you decide on purchasing them, not white.

Yes, I know, but they still run much warmer that I thought they would. Warm enough to think twice about touching them after they've been on for a while. - BC

EDIT: okay, maybe I should be asking the question this way: I am unable to find the part numbers for the turn signal flasher, and for the 4 way hazard flasher. Does anyone have the GM part numbers so I can compare the schematics of the GM ralays with the ones sold by superbrightled web site?

Thanks - BC

Which relays would work best? If I install one of these for the turn signals and one for the hazards, I won't need to install a LED Light Load Resistor Kit - LED Turn Signal Hyper Flash & Warning Fix ( https://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinf ... x/190/831/ )
