I'm trying to locate the cooling fan temperature control switch on my 1995 SSE. The temperature gauge reaches 220 sometimes then drops down to 200. It seems that the cooling fans are not coming on. I've changed the thermostat and the temperature control valve. I've also changed the 2 sensors located below the fuse box under the hood mounted on the firewall. I've also checked the 10 amp fuse inside the car located underneath the drivers side dashboard in the fuse panel. I was told that there is a cooling fan switch located on the motor that controls the fans. Can someone please help me in locating this switch. Thank you for any help.

220 is about the typical turn on point for the cooling fans. There is not an actual control switch in the sense that you are describing. The cooling fans are actually controlled by the computer. The computer reads the Coolant Temp sensor, and uses that information for calculating fuel mix, spark advance, etc. When the computer observes that the temp is high enough, it will then trigger the fan relays, low speed comes on at 215*, and high engages at 225*, or when the A/C compressor is engaged. If I am worried the fans are not working correctly, I usually let the car idle while setting still until either the fans come on, or the car reaches around 230*-240*. These engines will usually let you get away with 250*, but I don't like to ask it to.

I thought the same as you it's a little too hot for me, Once you find out the the cooling fans work,You could do the cooling fan override switch.

That's normal. That is a coolant temperature sensor, and when you disconnect it, the PCM commands the fans on.

There is nothing wrong with your car. Everything you describe in this topic is working exactly as designed. You've been replacing parts for nothing. Do your fans come on when the AC is turned on?

(Electronic Climate Control is ECC with the digital display) or do you have knobs?

Turn your AC on. Do the fans come on?
