I don't know what the answer is to this- but I'm going CRAZY trying to figure it out. About a month ago I was driving with my window down and it started pooring. I got some water on my driver's side door. The next day I came out and the driver's side rear window would not go down with the driver's controls. It would lower just fine with the Rear Driver's Side Door control- but nothing from the Driver's front door. Eh well, I could live with that.

Well, about a week ago, it poored again. This time, I forgot that I had left my window open when I came home and I got a ton of water on the Driver's front door. Next day- NONE of the controls worked. Couldn't put my window up, couldn't put it down, had no control over the other windows. For about half a day I had no window control. Then suddenly, the three remaining window controls started working again- for about a day and a half. While the window controls started working again, the driver's door locks stopped working. At one point, while driving, the door locks randomly locked, unlocked, locked, etc. Then, finally everything stopped working (all within about 2 days).

At this point I cannot put my window up or down, control any of the other windows, lock the door with the button on the Driver's door, control my mirrors or use any of the memory buttons. All of the functions on the other doors work perfectly- windows work, lock button works. Driver's door locks/unlocks when the alarm is used and when the passenger door lock is used.

I have checked all of the fuses that I could think of- then double checked using a multi-meter measuring for continuity of each fuse. I have measured for continuity between the ground wires and the ground box under the driver's side dash and everything seems to be connected.

I have printed up diagrams of the wiring for each connecter and checked voltages too- all of the wires going INTO the control module box check out fine, with roughly 12 volts between Live and Ground. What is throwing me is- if I plug the serial face into the door panel and check for voltage where the lock switch plugs in- I am getting about 4.5 to 5.5 volts. The passenger door gets 12 volts. Maybe this is a clue, but I don't know where else to look.

My only thought is that maybe the Driver's Door Control Module is bad (maybe it got too wet)? Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

Also- is there some way I can raise the window either by jumping some wires, or manually? I need to get it shut...

Thank you.

yes, it is the driver power door module.
Check Ebay and www.car-part.com -you should be able to get one for under $50. I had to do this on my old 00 SLE and my dad just did it for the rear doors in his 2004 Park Avenue Ultra.

If you take the door panel apart, and apply power directly to the motor, you will be able to raise the window.

olblueeyesbonne- Thanks for the confirmation. Unfortunately, I've tried everywhere and cannot seem to find one of these modules. Even with the part #.

Harofreak- Why did I not think of you in the first place? I will PM you.

Archon- not to sound ignorant- but how would you apply power to the motor directly? I have a blue and brown wire coming from it- apparently one wire controls up, one down. From what I've read, the switch gives these wires GROUND. Am I just over thinking and should just jumper a 12V wire to the blue (up) wire?

Thanks again for all the help.

Take the door apart, peel back the water deflector, then disconnect the connection going to the motor on the regulator. There will be two pins. Apply the power, and if the window wants to go down instead, switch the wires around. You could try it at the module, but I don't know what kind of problems might result from back-feeding. If you try it there, make sure to disconnect it from the module. Apply power to both the dark blue, and the brown wire...positive to one, negative to the other. One way will go down, the other up.

First, I'd like to thank Harofreak for sending me the window unit so quickly. It came in yesterday (I forgot to check my mail) and when I went to my mailbox today it was in there. However, I put it in and no dice. The part numbers are different, but the two units look exactly the same. With the new module though- none of the switches work at all. The major difference, however- is that I think the module Harofreak sent me has the back up assist mirrors- since now, the mirrors move when I'm backing up and going into drive. It's a nice feature and I'd love to use it- but I have NO Driver's door controls.

I did finally get my window up- I ran a wire straight from the battery instead of trying to utilize the wiring at the door. I wasn't getting something right- the window went right up when jumpered from the battery. I guess the good news is that the motor works like a charm (I was starting to have doubts).

So I know this- The door locks work when I use the key remote. The windows on all four doors go up and down, driver's side needs direct power at the moment. Mirrors do move. I have 12V DC current at various places in the 4 wiring harnesses that plug into the DDM.

I also had 5V at the lock switch with the old module and it looks like 0 with the new module.

I cannot find the model number for the DDM ANYWHERE. Haro was the closest thing I've come across.

Any thoughts on what I'm missing would be MUCH appreciated. Thanks guys.

Alright, at this point it is no longer a driver's side controls not working issue any longer. I thought their may be an off chance that the newer control unit that I got didn't work because of some computer setting that needed to be reset. I unplugged the battery for about 20 minutes and then plugged it back in. Now, none of my controls work and I can no longer lock my doors (including with the key remote).

I checked all the fuses again...nothing blown.

I'm at a loss. Any help would be appreciated.

Seems like the the switches on the door would be the most likely items to be damaged by rain. What happens if you reinstall the original module?

Reinstalling the original module, unfortunately, does not change anything. Nothing works with either module installed now....strange.

Thats to bad the module I sent didn't fix the problem :(

How is the condition of all the water deflectors?

A tech2 scanner would be an amazing help in fixing this problem. Got any buddies that work at a dealership?

You just need to remove the door panel and its right there.

This is a thread I started a few days ago and I really didn't get too many replies, actually only one.

It seems to me that I'm experiencing some of the same symptoms. If I would buy one of the door modules that Haro has for sell, do any of you guys think that this will most likely fix my problem?

I'm hoping it will because of the fact that I don't really want to take my car to a dealer and pay an arm and a leg for them to diagnose the problem and then fix it.

Let me know what you guys think......

The Programming is different. All i know is that if you have a Older DDM (00-02) and are having problems, the only replacement that GM Recommends is the 03+ Module. IIRC you cannot go in the reverse (IE older module into the newer vehicle)

Sorry for disappearing guys. I have had a super busy week and have had to just drive around with my windows up, down, wherever they are. I am going to try to open up my two rear doors this afternoon and roll up the windows so at least everything's closed and I don't have to worry about rain.

Maybe I should try to find a newer module? What year was the module you sent me Haro? It looked exactly the same- but as we discussed, the part # was different.

Now, my car won't lock (Key fob or door controls), windows don't move, mirrors don't move, radio won't turn off when you open the door, etc. I am going to have fun this weekend I think!

The module I sent you was from a 2000. I'd look for a newer module.

Just called the GM dealership, they gave me part #21999380 for $280!!!!

GMPD has it for about $170.

Geez. Gonna search a little more later this afternoon. This is painful!
