Ok so my tranny is acting up and I want to replace it with a used one.

My RPO code is FW2 which I am pretty sure is 3.06's

Ok so my question is this, There is a 4T60-E on Craigslist with 97k miles for $175 (http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/pts/3663567830.html) but the guy doesn't know the gear Ratio. How big of a deal is it to switch over the differential to make this one work with my Bonneville? Or is it more Involved than just swapping over the Diff?

I have a 1996 Bonneville SE

Thanks in Advance.

If its a different ratio you have to pull the valve body to get to the chain and sprockets.

If the trans is from a 96 Monte Carlo, I believe it would be 3.33 or 3.43.

You need the code off the car to determine the ratio, either that or the numbers off the trans tag..

FW2 is 3.06

But the problem is that some GM cars with the 60E used the fine pitch diff/ring gear.. The 3.06 is a regular pitch..

2.84, 3.06 and 3.33 would be regular pitch

2.86, 3..05 and 3.29 would be fine pitch

Regular pitch diffs and fine pitch diffs can't be swapped..
