I've heard from some Intense has a better tune. Any experience with either? Is one better than the other?

Yup get ahold of DMR Tuning  in Albany , no down time, just meet up, scan, tweek. Scan, tweek, scan, tweek... and it'll be cheaper than Intense or ZZP and should come out better considering they are tuning to your cars scans vs just slapping a tune that was done for another car into a PCM and hoping it helps. Nothing against the Intense persay, but I've not been the happiest camper with my ZZP 1.0 -kinda think they don't unlock the PCM's like they say based on two tuners being denied access to modifying, heck one PowrTuner couldn't even scan certain perimeters like my o2 and a couple other criticle readings. Also have been dealing with a lot of other issues from day 1 with the pcm/their tune, which I had them do to my original PCM which I mailed to them.

I didn't like my Intense tune at all, other than the raised shift points and speed limiter. Come to find out that's about all they did. It's really hard to tune a car from 1500 miles away, with no scans, just guessing.

I would not get eather....

I got a PCM from ZZP (not saying it was bad), but every car is diffrent and there PCMs are not tunes there just, well, small adjustments.

I would have some one tune the car for you, or buy and tuner and do it your self. I just tuned my car and i went form seeing KR upward of 10* to not seeing less then 1*, but i belive its false knock.

I'm happy enough with my Intense tune because they did something for me that I did not want to, nor had access to. Plus it met my none-too-lofty expectations. In my case they definitely sharpened the throttle sensitivity, although whether that is a function of the Impala (IIRC) PCM they burned for me is another question. All I know is that the car was behaving very differently after throwing in their PCM, which they took a month to get to me. Something about not finding a suitable donor for my car.

Getting your own PCM tuned locally is much better than the best canned tune.

Cookie Cutter PCM's are probably more suitable for non-SC'ed 3800's, which is why you are happy. I have only found a couple things I'm happy with, but if you scan your car you will probably find some things to be a little out of the acceptable range, but again, when running boost things need to be kept in check when upping the boost. Not saying it's not important in NA mode, but we have to keep any eye on it more.

If I take a trip to MN for some meet in the fall I'll throw in a cookie cutter tune I worked on before I got rid of the Bonnie, but I'm out of credits so it would cost $100 (at cost, not looking to make money).

But if you have to choose go with Intense. The few ZZP Bonnies I've seen are mind destroyers.

If there's a way to tune a 2000 with a DHP, (2000 SSEi's are not supported) we would be more than happy to help. Plus it's only a 30min drive for you.

Kyle. Do you think a 00/01 GTP file would work in his 2000 SSEi? We've successfully converted Larz01's '01 to a '00 to eliminate the cat. efficiency test. But he has an '01 file now with that section of the BIN taken out.

Would this work with a Bonneville?

^ No. Different make of vehicle, I only interchanged years. But I do have a stock supported 2003 file which would work.

I found that using a stock 00 GTP's MAF table was a great starting point for correcting the lean condition all 2000+ Bonneville's have. I also borrowed GTP TCC lockup tables and shift pressure tables. Big improvement over the sloppy grandpa tables in a Bonneville.

Actually, Kyle, what we are dealing with is we can't modify anything on the 00 pcm with the DHP, even though it's an unlocked Intense pcm.
