What is the curb weight of a 2000 SSEi?

And what about a 99?

I was under the impression GM used lighter parts for the 2000+.

99 Bonneville weighs 3446lbs according to http://consumerguideauto.howstuffworks. ... ille-6.htm

They may have used lighter components...but the vehicle is larger. Wheelbase and overall length increased by nearly two inches. There are other systems and additions that could add weight, such as the standard side airbags, that the 99 wouldn't have.

Either way, the Bonneville is a relatively light car when you consider that cars like the Mustang weigh only around 3,300-3,500lbs. Even the tiny Mitsubishi Eclipse weighs almost 3,100lbs. We're not talking about a 4,200lb Lincoln Town Car, lol.

That's usually only GVWR, not actual vehicle weight.

With a full tank of fuel and me in it (150 lbs), my 00 weighs in at 3810 lbs

The new crossovers weigh 4000 lbs.

Some of the additional weight of the 00's over previous model results from the 70% increase in torsional rigidity.

Aluminum hood, lower control arm castings, bumper reinforcements.

I certainly didn't mind adding a 10 lb front strut tower brace.
