Those 10mm's... Somewhere around the garage has got to be at least 7 of those along with 7 13mm and 15mm sockets.

It's a ruse I tell you. They make these things walk away so we buy more!

Tried something new today. It's not perfect. But I'm getting there.

I currently am missing a 10mm Ace socket, 1/4" drive, and a 13mm Craftsman 3/8" drive. But you know, who uses those...

As I said on Facebook, I do like that vinyl

That does look great, Carl! If hadn't acquired good deals on most of my GXP parts, I would definitely have looked at the brushed metal. I was hooked on the stuff when I saw it at Ryan's.

But as I said on FB, I probably wouldn't have the patience to wrap something.

The first item is the toughest. After that you get a feel for it and you can crank stuff out pretty fast. Just need a hair dryer and an exacto knife.

Actually, an exacto knife is on my list of things I need to get soon.

So I clayed the car, compounded it, and waxed it. The paint is much less dull now. The winter really took the life out of it. Just goes to show, wax your cars during winter... You can also see my LeSabre door handles which are chrome as opposed to brushed metal like the GXP ones are. Personally I prefer these to the brushed metal look. Thanks go out to Pat for them. Then there's the wrapped vents which look AWESOME. Pictures don't really capture it.
Here goes nothin'.

Looking good! I dig those headlights! Can't wait to see it in person come June. What the hell happened to your hood though?

Thanks!

I was getting real bad hood herpes and I just decided to strip the paint and primer off. Now it is bare aluminum. Polishing it is a huge pain because it ruins any microfiber towel or buffer pad since it is so dirty. I'd much rather wait till I can just paint the whole front end.

Those exhaust tips are definitely cool. ;)

I still love this car, Carl. I need to detail mine so badly...

Love the exhaust tips too. Much better looking than either the stock style tips. They should have done this from the factory. Sadly they don't stay clean for long. The car runs rich for an NA under WOT conditions.

How did you wrap the vents? Did you stretch them by hand or use heat to mold the wrap to them?

You need to use heat if you want it to look any kind of decent. Did some more yesterday...

I wanted to wrap mine a while ago but figured it'd be too hard but those look sweet! Must have taken a good amount of work.

As long as you don't run your car through a car wash or pressure wash it, you have another option to keep from having to wax it during the winter. Prep the paint like you should always do (wash, clay bar, polish). Then put on 3 or 4 coats of Klasse. Then you can apply a good paste wax of your choice. Use a "Wax as You Dry" product when you hand wash the car and it'll be good for the entire winter.

I get complements every time I go for service how the cars shine 'cause of it. - BC

EDIT - Great job on the car! If you have the time, I have 3 more for you to do - LOL! (just kidding) - BC

The vents are easy, the door handle bezels are more challenging, mostly because it is tough to stretch the vinyl without ripping it. Another thing that makes the bezels tough is the flexible opening.

Thanks for the tips! I'll be sure to try it out this coming winter. If you lived any closer I wouldn't even mind! Especially the Bonneville.
