Did you read all the posts? Unless I have another problem with it, I'm assuming the trans issue is fixed with the new battery bolts.

oh sorry, I'm was thinking that the gauge problem and the tranny problem happened at the same time.

also a little info on the speedometer wiring, on the 91 and older models the gauge cluster has a module built into it that translates the VSS signal into the correct speed based on the tire/wheel size built into the module. on the 92 and up models there is a separate unit that performs this function called the DRAC (can't remember exactly what it stands for) the DRAC takes the signal and corrects it for the speedo thus eliminating the need to program each cluster differently as changing the dracs program is much simpler.

I wonder if the wiring in the drac could be the problem

Gauge and tranny probably did happen at the same time, but they haven't reoccured since I replaced the battery bolts.

The only problem currently is the cruise not working.

Did you even post this question on FSC.com? I've always found them to be the best resource for FSC questions. It can't hurt to post it, if you haven't yet.

on my 91 when the cruise stopped working I found the cable that controls it and the throttle cable were binding up. dont know if its the same issue but its worth a look. also the park neutral switch which is down by your feet , if it goes a little out of adjustment your cruise will not work. there are a few ways to adjust, if you need the procedures let me know and i will try to find it in my manual :)

Cruise is magically working again, I did nothing.

Yesterday I went to pull my car dolly out of a snowbank. I noticed that my dash wasn't working and that it appeared to be in open loop again. After a quick restart everything was working correctly again. Hmmm...

I wonder if you're having ignition switch issues.....I had a similar problem with my old 94 chevy....

harofreak, did you ever check the body ground? It's the small wire comming off the battery ground. It goes directly to the body of the vehicle. Usually less than 1 foot of wire. If it does not have a good connection, it will cause all kinds of weird issues.

I know if the engine block to chassis ground isn't hooked up or is bad, the winsihled wipers won't work unless the key is off or something like that....

Don't ask me how I know.....
