Washed all the snow off it today, and took some pics because I'm contemplating selling it.

I've been watching the local craigslist for similar trucks for the last couple months, and the winter months have sure drove the prices up. There are trucks with similar condition and mileage listed for $5k. Mine has the rebuilt tranny/transfer case, and runs like a dream. I figure that if I could sell it for $5k, I'd be sitting at about $3k profit. However, it really does run good, and its nice to have a reliable truck. It has brand new tires on it. If I did sell it, I'm not sure what I would want, or what I would spend. Any thoughts?

Don't mind all the frozen water from the car wash, its 6°F out today.

Always nice to have a decent truck at the ready. And thats a nice one. Could you easily replace it?

That truck is definitely a good looker. For $5,000, I'd pedal it in an instant.

I'm kind of at the same point with our Tahoe..exact same mileage, 251K and new tires. Rough body though. I could probably only get $2K for it. Right now it's worth the most with winter right around the corner.

Those trucks reward their owners better then any other vehicle it will always do what you want it to no matter what. I vote keep it, you wont find another jewel like it in that good of shape the are getting rare

When in doubt, keep.

You might need the 4x4 this winter and even if you sold and make a profit, I'm sure you'll probably be spending more for a truck if you do need one this winter.

Don't sell it, because you know as soon as you sell it there will be 3 cars you want to part out/flip but you can't b/c you have to find a truck to borrow to go get them.

When I was shopping trucks a year ago, $5k would've been seriously overpaying for that, in the twin cities atleast.

I'd be happy to get $5k for my parents 98 Yukon with 110k miles, new tires, near perfect paint and just a coffee stain on the floor and the A/C compressor out.

If winter seriously does that to prices and you don't need a truck till spring? By all means sell, and then get another one when the price cools as the temps warm.

I'm with wake, right in that $5k range. The age is what's holding it back. A 2005 w/ 40k would be $9500+.

Andrew for what you do in terms of cars, and the weather climate you live in, you need a truck hands down... Unless you are going to upgrade to a newer Truck I would keep this one...

A newer 5.3 chevy 4x4 would be nice tho..

:withstupid: I have been seeing decent prices on craigslist for GMT-800 trucks with 4x4.

Quite an interesting dilemma you have presented. It is a nice truck, because you have made it nice. It is also money in the bank, that is months away from losing value if you are correct about the truck market. It all boils down to how you feel about the truck. Do you like it, and want to keep it for a while? Is it just another vehicle, a workhorse in your flipping game?

If you like it as a personal vehicle, keep it.
If you plan on selling it at some point and moving on, sell it now.

Of course my experience with bad weather is limited, so if 4x4 is necessary, that is a factor I am unfamiliar with.

It's not absolutely necessary Randy. I think he would be fine with the Bonne, but just with all the wheeling and dealing he does it's important for him to have a truck. Driving in winter weather is more about being smart than having the best tires, the tallest truck or 4x4. I get around just fine in my car in the winter.

X3, but I do get around a lot better with the 4x4...and it handles 4x8 foot sheets of stuff :)
