UGH! Another expense!

Well notice today when I jumped into my car to get to class that I have a cracked windshield! IT goes a little past the inspection sticker all the way down to the bottom of the windhsield. I'm so angry. Theres no signs of something hit it just a wobbly line.
So now I need to replace: Windsheild, Cat, possibly EGR Valve, and Horns before May for inspection.
Oh and get the PCM looked at by Intense to reprogram my PCM since I heard the Cat will possiblythrow a code, and there the only ones I know that do it..Unless any memebers do it???

Do you have glass coverage on your car? Sorry to hear about all the problems. I'm kinda glad we don't need to go thru all that here anymore.

I have a nice "U" shaped crack on my windshield just below the HUD line of sight. It actually started from one bottom edge and eventuall made the U about 8-10 inches to the left, also on the bottom edge... weird
No yearly inspection here thankfully, but if I were to sell the car I'd have to have it done.

Mine isn't every year, I think last time it was inspected was a good 3-4years? But its finally time to get it redone and of course it happens now.

If you have glass coverage, then you're ok.

Do you have window replacement insurance?

You can buy a "resistor" from our Vendors to plug into the rear O2 sensor plug. This will fool the PCM into thinking all is OK.

Not sure one the glass insurance I'll have to check, with the 02 sensor plug, does it do the same thing like the PCM?

Basically, yes. About 1/2 the cost of a reburn.
I did that for a few years before I had to send my PCM in to Intense for another burn and had them program the code right out.

If you don't have glass coverage, now is the time to get it. You already learned your mistake, not learn from it. Usually the cost of adding glass coverage is a SMALL fraction of the replacement costs for a new one.
If you had a small ship in the windshield, and water got into it, the water freezes and expands, thus cracking the glass. Its always best to have those small chips repaired before they turn into something else.

I can't find a chip anywere, so I am thinking it may be from the high windstorm we had, or the cold to hot weather we had and I might of jsut not noticed it.
I am going check tomarrow if I have glass coverage tomarrow nad will see what happens.
Thanks Silverbullet!

i have a rock chip as well on my windshield, its started to spider so sadly i think its beyond repair, and to add glass coverage with my insurance company requires full coverage, so i cant go that route.

Ya, you would need to have full coverage to have glass coverage. On an 8 year old SE, no thanks. Go find a shop and offer to pay CASH. I did that with our 99 SE a few years back and paid only $120. No sense in paying full coverage AND glass coverage over all those years just for one small windshield claim. Don't put on full coverage and put that money saved in a high interest bearing account.
