Does anyone know what a Service Stabilization System message in the DIC means?

All to common message in the 2000+. Its common that you either have a problem with a WSS (wheel speed sensor), steering wheel position sensor or some wiring near the WSS. The problem can only be diagnosed with a Tech2 or similar.

Just one more question, so far no other lights are on, how does this effect drivability?

Are your TRAC OFF and ABS lights on? If so, you no longer have either of the 2. If those lights aren't on, I think the only thing you might lose is the Stabilitrack.

So far no other lights off or on. Now I have to look up Stabilitrack and find out what that is....thanks

The Stabilitrak system is what activates when your car starts to go into a slide on a turn. If a wheel speed sensor is bad, that will generally also turn on the traction control and abs off lights. The most common problem for the service stability system is a bad steering position sensor. If work has been done on the intermediate steering shaft, and the steering wheel is not held in position, it can cause problems with that sensor.

Haro is right in that the abs and traction control should work OK.

Its a PITA to replace the SWPS. The part is only $78 but the labor is about $275. Main reason being is that the column needs to be removed from the vehicle. (At least on the Park Ave.) I just figured I would live with it.

Removing the column is not that hard of a job. Yes, the shops will charge you $275 in labor, but you can easily do it yourself.
