I need Header wrap to prevent the headers from frying my 4T60.
Can you buy this at a local store or is this a specialty online only item?

IMO only wrap what you need to to shield the trans. Wrap tends to hold in moisture and will start to rust the welds.

Only wrap the crossover from the front to the rear where it goes over the trani. It should stay dry up there.
If you get any salt spray on them and they are wrapped, they will corrode very quickly.

I wrapped my PEMS in that way and my SLP's are wrapped there as well. I didn't have any problems with the crossover on the PEM being wrapped for 2 years so i'm not too worried.

But only the middle of the crossover, not on the welds.

Take some close looks at what Oldsman did to try and shield his and how he redid his connector.
I hope you can get them to clear the connector enough.

Well even after grinding down the front motor mount to barely nothing the headers still wont clear it

, i'm about to give up and put them up for sale...

Don't give up. Get even with it and make it strong at the same time. There are two 96-99's running these and a couple other alternatives out there as well.
This one looks closer than it is because of the angle.
Been on my car for over a year and it hasn't torn or shown any signs of having any issues. Plus it firmed up the front w/o any added vibration.

If all else fails I'd install the headers and not install the bracket until you have a replacement bracket that has been modified. Your bracket is likely broken anyway.
There are too many options on how to remedy that situation.. Never give up.
On Bob's car we just cut off the part that connected the shock thingy, that's only half the bracket anyway, then after we clearanced the headers we found a chunk of metal with the right angle (90* bend) and we welded it in place then ran a bolt thru it with rubber end-link bushings just like in the photo that boosty posted.
Never give up.
Always continue forward, its just a puzzle, figure it out, make it fun and engineer it until it becomes a personal victory.

I had to remove a lot on mine. These are TOGs but should be some what close.

I had that one part off for a while and didn't know it. All I noticed was some rough shifts at low speeds. It's just a shock absorber. The mount is under it.

If it's not too late -use dynamat on the top of the trans, directly below the crossover instead of wrapping the header crossover and risking damage to the pricey headers.

ill look into dynamat... never heard of it before, but the flange on the header is really close to the wire harness on the trans so idk if itll fit...

Might look into going to Home Depot/Menards for Reflectex. That'd be another option -don't know how it'd handle the heat of the headers from less than an inch.

Well i took the shock bracket off and got the front header on, but it is touching the wireharness on the trans so there is nothing else i can do...

Not really the best option in the world, but what about denting the crossover pipe in a bit near the wires to get it away from it. Better yet, if you have a muffler shop that is willing to help out, have them bend it a bit, or cut and weld in a new piece making a custom crossover pipe. May cost a bit but better then damaging the wires/trans. Or removing the headers completely.
