Hey, I'm new to factory sound systems. Currently I have a brand newly refurbished CD player with the equalizer (which personally I'd rather was just BASS and TREBLE)...I've always tossed out the factory and installed an aftermarket system immediately, but with the steering wheel controls, I'd like to keep the factory deck.
My question is: Is there any way to wire up aftermarket subwoofers/amps through the factory deck? Thanks!

You will need an amp with high level inputs or line-output-convertors. Either way the bass at high volumes will suck. There are integration kits that will allow you to use aftermarket decks with wheel controls and keep your chimes but they are kinda pricey. I currently have all aftermarket equipment excluding the HU and I am moderately happy with the sound but I know it could be much better.

There have been tons of threads recently talking about this stuff. I went with the Rockford Fosgate 3sixty.1 and absolutely love it. Other similar options include the JL CleanSweep and MTX ReQ.
